Dr. Pirok has a kind manner and makes intelligent comments. However, I had an acute pain, and the office couldn't get me an emergency appointment for about two weeks. (Too long, in my opinion.) We were unable to diagnose the pain. The pain eventually subsided for the most part, but I feel that an earlier appointment is reasonable for emergencies and could have really helped with the diagnosis.

About Hygienist: Excellent hygienist. Superb technique, very friendly and knowledgeable, thorough without inflicting any pain.

Very poor bedside manner; impatient and curt with patients. He will increase your anxiety about the procedure. If you select this practice, I suggest you meet with Dr. Troudeau instead. Wonderful receptionists, though. They were very kind and helpful.

About Hygienist: Talkative but nice.

I'm just back from a root canal on a front lower tooth with a bad abscess and was looking for Dr. Pirok's phone number when I found this site. I've been seeing him for slightly over 20 years and he is the 5th dentist of my life experience. He is INCREDIBLE! He is extremely careful when he gives the novocaine shots... he's evidently both studied and has a good feel for where the nerves are. After the shots, for a BIG root canal, I felt absolutely, completely, totally NOTHING. And the only afternumbness is just a small tingle in the gum.... My other dentists used to numb my whole face but their work still hurt like hell. They're all good folks at the group he's in and the office and equipment are great, but the thing that's really funny is that I actually (and, no, I am NOT kidding, nor am I his brother in law! :> ) enjoy it when I need more than a cleaning because I get to "hang out" a bit with him while he's working on my teeth. I used to absolutely HATE dentists too! LOL! I don't know if it's just him or if the technologyof novocaine administration has improved since I was a teenager, but if you're worried about pain in dental work I'd give Dr. Pirok a try. Michael J.
