Dr. Nia is a very good dentist but I had problems with the office trying to reschedule me because he or one of the hygienists wouldn't be available.

I have been to see Dr. Nia twice, and was disappointed both times. The first time, he recommended that I have a "deep cleaning" (also known as "root scaling") of my teeth. I thought this was surprising since I brush every day and actually floss twice a day. He also recommended that I have a gum graft on one of my teeth. I knew about the gum graft, so went to a periodontist and got that done. The periodontist, however, told me that there was no need for deep cleaning, and he had no idea why anyone would have recommended that to me. When I went in the second time, it was to get a crown re-attached that had come off. The crown was not mounted back correctly, and I will have to get it re-done. Also, when I asked to switch from a deep cleaning to a regular cleaning, the assistant got snippy with me and refused to allow me to just get a regular cleaning. I ended up cancelling my deep cleaning appoinment and have not been back since.

Dr. Nia is my all time favorite dentist (I'm 39 years old). He also has been seeing my children since they were 3 years old. He is a very kind, warm, and caring person. My husband, who hates to go to the dentist, even had a good experience with Dr. Nia. Dr. Nia undertstood my husbands phobia and went the extra mile to make him comfortable and relaxed. He did a wonderful job on my crown and bridge. I was happy with the first fitting he did, but he is so picky that he asked to send the dentals back to the maker for one last minor fix even though I thought they were just fine. He is certainly a perfectionist, and when it comes to something as personal as your teeth and smile, that is something that is very critical. The hygenist staff is wonderful as well. Although I rarely see the same hygenist twice, I've been very happy with all of them. They continuously communicate to you during the cleaning to insure that you're comfortable and in no pain. The front office staff members very friendly, extremely efficient and always smiling. We will stay with Dr. Nia for as long as he's in the area. I highly recommend him. Debbie Russell

My children had routine fillings, cleanings, etc. a few years ago and everything was just fine. Dr. Nia himself is very personable and considerate. However, my brother-in-law's experience was a total disaster. He had a severe toothache and wanted the tooth pulled because it was rotted. He asked me if I knew a good dentist so I recommended dr Nia. He scheduled an emergency appt that same day. Would you believe they kept him waiting there in agony for 3 hrs.?! Finally, the sec'y called him over and asked him to pay $350 up front before even seeing the dentist! When he asked why, she said he might need a root canal. He asked her how she would know this unless he saw the dr first, and she got nasty with him and said it was their policy. Another lady came out and also demanded the money up front. He refused again. Then office mgr came out and told him unless he paid $350 up front, the dentist couldn't see him. Finally, he got mad and left after 3 hours of waiting. Boy, was he ticked off at me for sending him there! The next day he went to a different dentist who only charged him $75 for the extraction and a couple of bite wings. After hearing this story, none of us ever went back there.

This last visit, I was most dissatisfied with the quality of services and treatment, and the unprofessionalism of two staff members who were anything but empathetic to my problem. I had a serious gum infection with bleeding and pus, and was given the appropriate x-rays by the dental assistant. The exam, itself, however, was rushed. I wasn't even given any medication for the infection despite my request. The exam was more focused on unrelated work than it was for my immediate problem. I made numerous inquiries regarding my treatment, including a subsequent visit to the office, but still no attention was paid to the infection. I felt I wasn't being taken seriously. So I scheduled an appt with a periodontist for a 2nd opinion, but was rudely told by Shawna, one of the staff, that I wasn't allowed to do this! She also wouldn't release my x-rays. After reporting this to the insurance company, I called the office manager, who finally agreed to release my records. Next day, I saw a periodontist who told me I had a serious abscess and immediately prescribed antibiotics. Needless to say, this was a most stressful time for me. I've never had such a bad experience with dental staff before.

Dr. Nia was very nice, but he did a fairly poor job on my crown and bridge. They were both darker than my natural teeth and neither matched my other teeth very well in size or shape. I had to have them replaced by another dentist. Dr. Nia did an excellent job on my husband's wisdom teeth extractions, though.
