Dr. Strader does good quality work and his office staff is very friendly and helpful. I like that he uses less toxic dental materials as well. This is what brought me to him when searching on the internet for a mercury free dentist. However, he uses a high tech camera and a big flat screen in front of you. He takes pictures of your teeth for you to see- very convincing. He then points out every discoloration/flaw of your teeth and tells you they need fixing of some sort. He is not conservative at all and very centered on cosmetics alone. He told me I had several cavities and needed a crown on a tooth that was already filled. I thought something was fishy that my old dentist that I have gone to for years never mentioned any of these supposed cavities. I went back to my dentist for my next cleaning and she said those spots that he told me were cavities are dicolorations that have been there for years. She has been watching them for years and they have not started to turn into cavities. She also said the filled tooth did not need a crown as the filling was in good condition- no need to mess with it. I am sure Dr. S does fine work, but he was not honest with me and used the camera to convince me that I needed unnecessary work done.

About Front Desk: Office staff was very nice and patient. However it did take them a long time to run/verify my insurance while I was sitting in the chair waiting for my dental work to begin, and he is out of network for all insurance plans. Also, office staff scheduled me for an appointment (I requested the time off work) then they called back when it was pretty close to the appointment date and said Dr. S would not be in the office.

Thank you Dr. Strader for my wonderful smile! Dr. Strader has been our family dentist since I was a child. I now bring my two daughters ages 4 and 5 to get their cleanings. I know my kids are well taken care of and that all the materials Dr. Strader uses are not harmful to their overall body health. He tells me he has not placed a silver, mostly mercury, filling in several decades. That is important to me. Every filling is filled with BPA free composite/plastic. Dr. Strader placed veneers on my teeth and they look like they grew there. There is no ugly silver line by the gums becuase they are all metal free. I get compliments on my smile from strangers and I feel comfortable smiling all of the time. He is not the cheapest dentist out there, but I don't want cheap materials in my mouth or the mouths of my family. I know I am getting better than I am paying for. I haven't had any problems with insurance, Hazel takes care of all of that for me. She files all the paperwork and I just pay my portion. You will love this practice if you give them a try.

About Hygienist: I really can't say enough nice things. The hygenists are super sweet and do a great job while still being gentle. The assistant is very friendly and skilled as well.

I love Dr. Stader's work. He is very gentle, and a very good dentist. I have had to have extensive dental work, and I have been very pleased with his services. He is a little expensive, but excellent work. Not very insurance friendly. Not really in network with any of the major insurance carriers, which is a problem for me. Unfortunately, because of this, I will no longer be able to afford him.

I've not had any treatment done with Dr. Strader, only evaluation, but Dr. Strader's desire to use only the safest and most biocompatible dental materials is refreshing. I've recently seen other professionals that use dental ceramics no longer on market that are even reported (at EU professional conferences) to cause more cytotoxic gum inflammation than the old nickel crowns! So, if you're trying to keep your tooth pulp alive, remember that even the best looking dental restoration may not be healthy. "First, do no harm" is sadly secondary for far too many throughout the medical profession, but Dr. Strader seems to have a genuinely "organic" attitude about safety. If only he was less expensive...

Dr. Strader is an intelligent man and a competent dentist but there are several issues you need to be aware of. 1. Most of today's clinical, dental literature recommends savings as much of the natural teeth as possible. In my experience he does not buy into this as a philosophy. His instinct is to remove as much of the teeth as possible and put a crown in its place. I've had 4 crowns and would describe the outcome as average, but not very successful. I now have to have one of them replaced due to extreme temperature sensitivity. There have also been issues with food particles getting stuck between a couple of the crowns. Again, I have been able to eat etc so it's not like it was a complete failure. I've had other tooth wear and he made no suggestions on how to slow it down. My sense is that he'd prefer to wait until it's bad enough to warrant another crown. 2. His style is not one of suggesting options and pros and cons. He will develop a point of view on what is to be done and you will submit to it or not.

About Hygienist: His hygienists are generally quite good, though they don't seem to stick around for more than a year. Thorough and pretty gentle as well as personable.

I first came to Dr. Strader in the 1973 when I was 25 years old. I had a bridge put in. I was a little apprehensive, but there was so need to be. After several visits, I left with my new choppers. (smile) The "laughing gas", (I think thats what it was called) made me relax and I really felt peaceful. Dr. Strader is very professional and knows what he is doing and he does it well. I have been to several other denstists and they always asked me "who did your bridge....that is the best bridge I have seen". My bridge is still good today! I am now 56 years old ....it had been over 30 years and I am now back at Dr. Strader and Hazel is still there! I I had a regular dentist, but she decided to give her business up and stay at home with her children. I tried several dentists, but there was just something missing. I began to pray about finding the right dentist and Dr. Strader's name came into my mind (prayer really does work). I did not know if he was still in business, but I knew that I was going to call and find out. When Hazel answered the phone, I was so astonished! I have now been back for over 2 years and I am so glad that he is still in business. A loyal and happy customer, Billie Catherine Taylor

About Hygienist: The hygienists, in Dr. Strader's office are always professional and courteous. They always take time to answer any questions I have and I really appreciate that. I love the way they clean my teeth....my teeth always feel clean and smooth. During the cleaning procedure, they always ask "are you ok"? I love it!

Dr. Straeder is a very nice man. He is very quiet but kind. His staff is very nice. However, I ran into several problems at this office. First, the dental assistant was young and inexperienced. I needed some crown work and as she was taking impressions I was extremely cold sensitive. I kept telling her but she would ignore me. When I let Dr Strader know he kindly quit allowing her to work in my mouth and did everything himself. He was more sensitive to my needs. Then when he completed my last of 3 crowns I developed a severe ache...throbbing. When I called he said he wouldn't know what would cause the pain but that I could come in and he would take a look at it. So I did and he said the work looked fine and he did not know what the problem was. I had to go to another doctor to get help. Needless to say, I have switched dentists.

Unfortunately, I have had to get a lot of major dental work done over the years. Thankfully for me, Dr. Strader is exceptionally gentle with the numbing shots and he creates an environment where I can distract myself while he does the work (gas and movies). He has all the latest gadgets including a mini digital camera where he takes close ups of my teeth to show me exactly where the problem is and what he needs to do to fix it. The prices are high but thats because Dr. Strader is best of breed.

Overall, pretty good. Like watching movies during procedures on their cool glasses. Only criticism is that they really "up-sell" -- veneers, whitening, etc.
