Dr Fresch seemed very competent and friendly. I hadn't been to the dentist for years and they helped me get my teeth back into good shape. I felt like everything there was top-notch in technology and treatment. Just generally in good hands. All fillings were pain-free and they had googles I could wear that played dvds while my fillings were done. The offices are *beautiful* in an upscale-ish part of town (the Indian restaurant in the same complex is top-notch btw), the receptionists were friendly, and there was often fresh-baked bread. I'd still be there if I were still in DC. The downside? VERY EXPENSIVE. And doesn't take most insurance plans. I thought it was worth it (and I don't make that much), but your mileage may vary. I had fillings, cleanings, and invisalign done there.

About Hygienist: I would say that all the dental hygienists here are just average. They did briefly have a visiting hygienist who managed to give me the most gentle, mostly-pain-free cleaning ever, but mainly it's just what I'm used to for cleanings--a little painful (with one hygienist saying I just have sensitive gums and should floss more ... even though I floss almost every day...) Maybe that's just how 99% of all cleanings are.

Dr. Fresch seems to be a very knowledgeable and competent dentist. She is personally friendly and tends to have pleasant staff. I feel very confident that with her, I am getting very good dental care. She also is very sensitive to a patient's pain. Negatives: Extremely expensive and does not participate in insurance plans. Their offices are in a very high-rent district in Clarendon with a lot of "extras" in the decor and patient perks. I would rather they tone down the ritzy atmosphere and lower their prices to something more affordable. Also, I had one rather disappointing experience with her - one of her assistants chipped a tooth during a procedure and she did not address it with me by discounting the service or in any other way.

I have a severe gag reflex due to sleep apnea. Dr. Fresch was the ONLY dentist that was willing to try normal procedures while I was wearing a CPAP device (smaller in size than a sedation mask). That willingness, plus an extraordinary patience in working with my major phobia (due to childhood dental trauma), and also her excellence skills in dentistry has allowed me to finally get my dental health on the right track. And I am her patient in sprite of the fact that my daughter is a dental hygienist at another excellence practice in the DC area.

I have gotten discouraged with the scheduling. Many times when I have had an appt. the specialists needed for all aspects are not there and I am required to return to complete my procedures. It is extremely pricey for not placing value on my time. However, they do have a state of the art facility and Dr. Fresch seems highly qualified.
