A friend recommended Dr. Gruntz after I had a disaster with a Maryland dentist I will not name here. I had a car accident many years ago, and after 20 years, the crowns etc needed replacement, at which point the Maryland dentist talked me into lots of other 'cosmetic' work I did not need and later regretted. After many weeks of work, spending lots of my savings, and enduring lots of pain, I confronted the Maryland dentist, who agreed to reimburse me to a large extent. Then I found Doc Gruntz. I'm still amazed that he was bold enough to take me on as a client with a mouth full of problems and bad 'cosmetic' work in need of a re-do. One of the first things he did was to find and fix a tooth that had been causing pain for nearly a year from 'cosmetic' work the Maryland dentist did... fixing the same problem that the other dentist kept insisting was 'normal pain that will go away on its own.' Wow. What a difference. From there, it took plenty of visits but Doc Gruntz very methodically un-did all the prior dentist's messes and kept at it till he got everything just right. He was very very reasonable in what he charged, he's highly skilled and very personable, and is just a great guy who happens to be a great dentist.

Dr Gruntz was very attentive and calming during my visit. I was extremely nervous, and he put all my fears to rest. He is up front about any problems, but always keeps a positive tone. He doesn't lecture you, but he doens't beat around the bush either. I had some killer bad breath, and he made sure that a) i knew it, and b) treated the matter. If you are fearful about going to the dentist. This is the guy for you.

Dr. Gruntz is the best dentist I have ever known. I have needed a lot of dental work over the years, and after making some catastrophic dental decisions in my distant past, I now won't trust my dental needs with anyone other than Dr. Gruntz. He is always kind, fair, and sympathetic to how sensitive I am about my teeth. He recently gave me veneers on my upper teeth. I couldn't be happier with the process he used and the results I received. I have referred several friends to him, and they have all echoed my sentiments about Dr. Gruntz.

Absolutely great. Now he makes crowns as you wait with the latest CAD CAM technology. I've had a lot of dental work... most of it from my father in law who retired 15 years ago. Dr Gruntz beats them all.

Dr. Gruntz is wonderful. I've been going to him almost since he graduated from med school and have sent many people to him. His prices are reasonable, he tries so hard to make sure he doesn't hurt you and he's the nicest dentist I've ever gone to. I tell him he can't retire until I've died or moved out of the area!

Dr. Richard D. Gruntz is the best of the best! Believe me. ;) I have been to some quacks that call themselves dentists but are not really dentists at heart. Some of them started OK and ended pretty much almost destroying all my teeth and causing TMJD (Temporary Mandibular Joint Disorder it affects your jaw and it is not fun), they completely changed my bite and in the process emptied my wallet. Dentistry is expensive, yes, I understand that, but some dentists are really greedy and while they work on you are already thinking which machine they are going to buy next or what trip or cruise is the wife going to take or where they are going next on vacation. Hmmm Going to the mechanic. If you get with a crooked mechanic, he can destroy your car and never end working on it. Same thing with a dentist a false touch with the drill that you cannot feel while your whole mouth is numb and you will never leave their office. You need to know what is wrong with your teeth before you enter their consult. Well, to my surprise this has been a completely different experience. Some people might not like that he does not work with insurance companies, but he will give you the paper work and you can submit it yourself, the insurance company will pay what they are suppose to even quicker than when submitted by a dentist. Sometimes the dentist waits quite some time to send this forms or they have to hire extra people to do this and they pass the charge to you. Anyways it is not that terrible or hard. Dr. Gruntz was a God-sent to me and probably to some other people that have gone through the horrifying ordeals I have gone through. This man listens to me and obviously loves his profession and is proud of being a dentist, he is also a perfectionist and he seems to genuinely enjoy seeing people with beautiful smiles . He is extremely gentle and careful. It is the first time in 30 years that I have gone to a dentist where I DID NOT have my gums bleeding or was in pain when I got out of their office and on my way home. Just that is a double plus. No pain? Is that Miracle? of course not, things were just done the right way and that is the simple reality, no miracle was performed. I have become a normal person again and I am not afraid of the dentist, dentist's office or dentist chair anymore, he does not put me to sleep or give me therapy and I get out of there as I went in without having my mouth and face numb for a day. Dr. Gruntz has butterfly hands ;). He has restored my faith in the dental profession. I like that very much!! ;) and I am a happy camper with a pretty smile again.

Dr. Gruntz is wonderful. Professional and his office staff is friendly. Ffollow up phone calls and appointment scheduling is efficiant. Dr Gruntz is very approachable, explains procedurs and doesn't "push" work to be done but does explain the options. Had a tooth broken over the weekend, recieved a timely call back and appointment Monday morning. Have had regualr teeth cleanings and a crown done over the past 5 years. All excellent. convenient access inthe Crytal CIty Underground Shops -- metro and parking available (which they subsidize). Highly recommend him.

About Hygienist: Dr Gruntz' staff is great - very professional and efficient. Regular teeth cleanings are good, thorough and without pain.

Wonderful Dentist - I'm the son of a Dentist and he's closest to the work my Dad did. Very fair on price and does not ever try to upsell - even though he could easily do it. Pleasant office environment.

Dr. Gruntz is a great Dentist and a SUPER guy. Very personable and fun to talk to . Nice small, pleasant, intimate office that is very convenient in the Crystal City area. You can walk under cover to the Metro or free parking is easily available. I have used Dr. Gruntz for longer than I have ever used any one Dentist. I plan to use him for all my general denistry work as long as I'm in the DC area. I highly recommend him.
