I have had 3 root canals done in my life. Dr. Kim did this 3rd one and the procedure itself wasn't so bad because I was under anesthetic, of course. But I had extreme pain for 3 days after and it's been a week and I still have pain even from the injection. (The tooth itself, prior to the procedure was not THAT painful ... the infection was not as bad as i've had in the past). In the past, other dentists took their time with root canals and did the procedure manually, but Dr. Kim used a drill to speed things along and I believe this is the main contributor to my intense and painful recovery. The procedure was too abraisive. Then since I was in so much pain, I took the medication he prescribed which led to drowsiness for all the days I took it, not to mention horrible side effects of vomiting and the worst headache of my life (not an exaggeration). I also consider myself pretty tough when it comes to pain ... I've had deep cleanings without anesthetic and endured it just to give you an idea of how painful this recovery was.
