I underwent oral surgery at the clinic of BM Patakas for removal of my wisdom teeth. I've had a number of problems with this dentist: + First they made an error in their accounts and send me a letter threatening me to pay $25.93 (which I did not owe) or else the matter would be reported to collections. + More seriously this dentist performed a soft tissue biopsy without my knowledge and approval. He agreed to waive the biopsy charge when I mentioned to him that it was done without my knowledge or approval. But almost after a year or even more I started receiving bills from Diagnostic Pathology Lab where the tissue was sent for biopsy. I tried hard to fight the case but the dentist wouldn't honor his earlier commitment. There are two grave ``crimes'' (I don't know what other word to use) this doctor committed here: first performing a soft tissue biopsy without my knowledge and approval and second refusing to honor his waiver. I have a copy of all the bills corraborating above narrative. I even sent a complaint letter to Dental Board of California but they came back to me saying this was something in which they can't help.

I know this doctor: 2 years

I had my 2 wisdom teeth taken out in 15 min. That day, after the numbness from the local anesthesia wore off, I hardly had any pain and hardly any swelling. People that saw me that evening said they couldn't believe I'd gotten my wisdoms out that morning.

My daughter had her wisdom teeth taken out over the Christmas break she went in on Wednesday had swelling on Thursday and Friday had pain meds/antibiotics and did just great!!! She was apprehensive but felt very comfortable with the dr, the assistants, and the anesthetist. The cost was very reasonable compared to other oral surgeons in the Bay Area, after surgery the office called several times to check and see how she was doing. I would refer everyone who needs extractions to see Dr Patakas!!!!!

I went to this doctor with severe TMJ (jaw) pain. He was supposedly a TMJ specialist. If you have jaw pain, don't bother with this guy. I paid a lot of money to be told "Use a heating pad on your face and don't eat anything harder than mashed potatoes for an indefinite amount of time...." Didn't offer a mouth guard or any other course of treatment - He didn't even suggest I come back for a check-up. Nor did he suggest any alternatives if that course of treatment didn't work. A waste of time, and I still have this incredibly painful condition which is continuing to get worse.

Shady business practices include charging to remove 4 teeth and only removing 3, no refund offered. If you have a small mouth BEWARE, he'll tear up your mouth. Don't say you weren't warned.
