In 1998, I had Orthognathic surgery performed by dr. miles while he was still practicing out of his Hoboken office. Not only did it go as smoothly as could be anticipated, but it was done in an extremely professional manner. I felt extremely calm for a sixteen year old about to go through major mouth surgery. I owed it all to dr. miles! I liked him so much that a few years later I went back to him to remove my four wisdom teeth! once again, it was a great experience! I'd highly recommend dr. miles to anyone looking into either surgery!

I went to him because he was an in network surgeon and I wanted to take advantage of my insurance plan. Before the surgery I asked the doctor and his assistant to give me a detailed breakdown of what they were submittting to my insurance so I could talk to them and calculate my responsibility. They gave me this in post its! nothing formal. The surgery amount that was quoted was the same amount submitted to the insurance. However, I was told that the anesthesia would be 500 dlls and that I would need to pay it before hand in the event that insurance won't cover it. When they submittted the claim, they did it for 960! of which their contracted agreed amount was 600 dlls. So my insurance paid pays 80% of the claim, $480 dlls. And when I asked to be reimbursed for this amount they told me that my responsability was 20% of the 600 dlls and I end up paying $120. So instead of charging 500 dlls, they end up receiving 600!! Now they tell me that 500 was a courtesy price if I didn't have insurance, even though they knew in advance that I did had insurance. They were very shady about how this was handled. They weren't clear and honest with me at the beginning. I asked the assistant to talk to Dr. Miles and he didn't care.

About Front Desk: I called my isurance company and they can't do anything because it was already paid. Don't go to him, he is not honest and has no ethics in terms of billing!!

Dr. miles has ethical issues. I went to him to have a tooth pulled. I was in the chair no more than 5 minutes. When I checked his billing, I saw that he had billed not only for tooth pulling, but for a sinus surgery! My co-pay was an extra $65 for his alleged surgery. No surgery was performed. When I confronted Dr. Miles, he agreed to remove the $65 for the surgery. But he billed it to the insurance!! Then, this year, when I tried to go there for another procedure, I was told by the dentist that he would not allow me back to his office. I called my insurance company, and yes, he did bill over $1000 to them for surgery, which they paid. I filed a financial complaint with the insurance company against Dr. Miles. He is now being investigated. If you go here, CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY. But, I suggest you go elsewhere.

He removed a wisdom tooth. It was absolutely painless, and took only 5 minutes. He is very experienced and professional. Very patient and allows you to ask any question you want.

While my recovery went smoothly in the end, his bedside manner left much to be desired. So if you don't mind getting yelled at for asking questions about how to take care of yourself, check him out!

The surgery with Dr. Miles went as well as could be. He recommended that I only need 3 wisdom teeth removed, so that made me feel better already knowing that he was looking out for my best interests. The surgery was fine, especially since I got the nitrous gas and lidocaine shots in my gums. There was a bit of a struggle with my teeth, perhaps since I'm 28 and my roots are longer than those of a teenager. My recovery went fine, though I did have lingering jaw pain almost a month after the surgery. When I spoke to Dr. Miles about it, he at first seemed a bit condescending in his tone, especially when I expressed concern. However, aside from his strange attitude, I would recommend him to anyone. On another note, watch out for his staff. I used both my dental and medical insurance and was supposed to receive money for whatever United gave back to them, but Connie B. figured I would not notice. Once I called to reclaim my money, she played stupid for a bit until finally accepting, though she hung up on me in anger. I would suggest that Dr. Miles hire a professional manager, one who understands the ethics of managing a medical facility.

I had an extraction of back tooth and bridge and implant of front tooth--both procedures were done superbly with a minimum of pain--only 2 pills of over the counter Aleve were necessary. Dr. Miles is a superb dental surgeon, nice office--very pleasant and intelligent dentist and reasonable for first rate work. Very clear explanations. Staff is also reassuring. I recommend him very highly

The best chair-side manner. Dr.Miles gave me a clear outline of how things would go for removal of an impacted, sideways wisdom tooth. ( ex.which novoacine needle would pinch, how long he would be drilling , when the akward cutting sound to free the root was coming). This really helped ease any anxiety I had going in, and kept me relaxed "in the chair". During the procedure- which was longer than usual at 20 minutes - the doctor displayed a calm, pleasant receptive demeaner. At one point I had to take a brief break- this was greeted by a sympathetic spritz of water to hydrate my dry mouth, and off we were to the finish line. He is cool without being cold. He is quick without making you feel rushed or unimportant. I was impressed that when I first visited he said the tooth could stay in if I wanted it to. That medically it was not urgent because it looked clean. When I had my stitches out, I asked about an implant for a front tooth. He gave me good information AND then suggested that a bridge would likely give me a better visual result. That he was willing to walk away from a payday twice really impresses me. The staff: low- key, responsive, cordial.
