had a tooth removed. I was absolutely mangled. Six weeks of emergency room visits to make sure my jaw wasn't broken and twice weekly visitsait university of pennsylvania dental school to get the area irrigated and get blocks to relieve the worse pain I have ever experienced. I lost 6 week of my life. Their bathroom doesn't even have running water in the sink. Just hand sanitizer that has been proven not to kill bacteria from fecal matter. Both surgeons are arrogant and rough to the point of inflicting severe pain. Avoid this practice.

Dr. Dowd is my miracle oral surgeon. Thank god for oral surgeons like him! He made my pain go away. I will always be truly grateful for his wonderful talent. Trust him for he is a dedicated professional.

Dr. Dowd removed my wisdom teeth. I had the IV sedation and the others with novacain. No pain at all. Stitches were great, no after effects. Went right on with normal activities. I recommend highly.

Dr. Dowd is the most wonderful oral surgeon I've ever known. He is dedicated, professional and humble, despite his extraordinary abilities as an oral surgeon. A man with Dr. Dowd's class, values and compassion makes him a truly special human being, especially in today's world. It is a pleasure to know him.

I have had two seriously broken teeth removed from Dr. Dowd. The last tooth had an extra root that caused Dr. Dowd to have to spend extra time with me to get it removed without injuring my other teeth. He was fantastic. His personality is relaxed and funny and it made me feel very much at ease. Dr. Dowd did not rush me out, rather he took the time to make sure the extraction was complete and that I was okay before he left the room.
The office staff is always friendly and helpful. They always work with you to help you get a timely appointment. They are very efficient in explaining your copays so that you are not dealing with a surprise payment at the end of the visit.
This is the only oral surgeon office that my family will ever use.

In order to find a quality dentist you need to research. The comments made about this dentist/office are not fully truthful. I was reffered to Dr.Dowd/Checchio by my primary dentist for a consultation it cost 125.00. Dr.Dowd spoke to me about 8 minutes. Did not look in my mouth or give me a oral exam. His chair side manners are not professional. He was so negative about dental implants, I left feeling like he didn't want to do the work. I didn't want the work done and considered having all my teeth pulled and get a partial. There were no booklet/pamplet/paper on dental implants in his office. I left with no information and it cost me 125.00. The office is dirty and the equipment is so outdated. The doctor and staff do not use gloves/masks or proper hand washing. None of them. This is not sanitary. This office has to be seen to believe and the doctors/staff need some professional guidance on their practice.
