Dr. Lazar was not a good choice for me, an adult having orthodontia.
The treatment was expensive, in the high end of the range of orthodontists I consulted in Manhattan. My teeth required minor adjustments. I went with Dr. Lazar because she was close to my office.
Dr Lazar was often brusque and rough. She was not friendly nor helpful and was impatient with the assistants she worked with. It was an unpleasant atmosphere.
She rarely explained what she was doing, before filing my teeth down or applying pressure. She would turn my head roughly, and if something hurt, she would blame the patient. saying "you moved," or the equivalent. In short, I experienced Dr. Lazar as having poor chairside manners.
I can't imagine what it is like to be a young orthodontia patient of Dr. Lazar's. Kids need understanding and patience.
I'm a tolerant person, particularly in a dentist office. I don't have phobias or fears, I tend to relax in the chair. I would not recommend her work to friends or family. My teeth look fine, though the uppers and lowers do not mesh as well as they should. I think my braces were removed too soon. We agreed on a price and the braces came off a year after my first appointment. The total cost was around $7000.
