Please beware not all dentists are equal. Dr Steven Sluyk miss diagnosed my infection in an old root canal. I had my general dentist take X-rays, show me the issue, I showed them to Dr Sluyk and he still did not believe that there was an infection and refused to acknowledge the results in the X-ray. He tried to convince me it was a different tooth. If I let him have his way he would have done a root canal on the wrong tooth and I would have ended up with two root canals. Once I convinced him I would only let him work on the tooth my general dentist told me was the problem he then would not let me have any nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to relieve the pain. He said that he teaches classes against it. I was not in a position to leave the chair at that point and I continued. I have never been so upset with a dentist in my life. The antibiotics he gave me were wrong. I had to go to my family doctor to get the right prescription. Dr Sluyk charged me $1800 to fix an infection. I had no insurance I refuse to pay the bill. I gave him $450. Ask the good questions before you let any doctor work on you and if you are not comfortable run like the wind and get out of that chair. Always get the second opinion before such a critical procedure.
