I have a mixed review of Dr. Ake. I think Dr. Ake does good quality work at prices that seem pretty normal. I don't think he's the best with kids, though. When my children have seen him, the office has not done well in stress management and Dr. Ake seems to get impatient with kids who might be scared of someone sticking a whirring drill in their mouth! We are now looking for a pediatric dentist. On the other hand, I think he does a great job with pain management and his technical skill seems quite good. The hygenists are really nice. One warning, however: his billing office will call you relentlessly if you are late with a payment or have any insurance problems-- it's like being harrassed by a bill collecting office! We had an insurance mix-up and we were called EVERY OTHER DAY, even AFTER we had figured out what had happened (we could do nothing but wait for the insurance to get straightened out and Dr. Ake's office STILL called us) . Bottom line: If you're not looking for a dentist for kids and you have unlimited funds or really reliable insurance, he does good work. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere.
