The doctor acted very weird and made us feel very uncomfortable. He also went on and on repeating several things over and over. He talked very rude to his one staff member and it was very obvious that they didn't at all like each other which made our experience even more uncomfortable. plus the price for treatment was outrageously high.
About Front Desk: Very hard to schedule with and rude.
My Experience: Exam & Consultation, X-Rays
Duration: 2 hours

Awful, plain old terrible. Seems as if he has no idea what he is doing. On the rare occasion you are late you pay a fee and every other time you end up waiting 30 minutes.

POOR ACCOUNTING PRACTICES! My son had his first phase of treatment with Dr. Oates, but changed to another orthodontist who was over a thousand dollars cheaper! But aside from the cost, the treatment was satisfactory. However, the accounting was far from acceptable. I was not kept informed about the total insurance payments made to the office, so when I switched to another office, I assumed that I had some insurance money left to apply to the new braces, not so. Dr. Oates' office had received the full insurance payment, but had not informed me. I had a credit on my account that they had kept for years! But when I informed them that I was switching, did they tell me? NO! I had to find out from my new doctor's office that the total had already been paid. When I called Dr. Oates' office, the receptionist was helpful with the accounting information, but I had to call her back to get further confirmation. She did not call me. At the time of this review I still have not been reimbursed.

My daughter has had a very difficult course of braces lasting (no kidding) 8 years. At the end, her teeth look beautiful but Dr. Oates has said things to indicate they are still not right. She is normally easygoing but has had such negative experiences with him and his staff that I am having someone else do the follow-up care. She cries with frustration every time she goes in. The staff acts impatient with her instead of encouraging. Several of her friends have had the same experience with his office.

Many problems scheduling appointments, long waits in the office to be seen and frequent return visits for problems with wires that are improperly installed.

They do not value your time as a patient and the world evolves around their schedule. Do not ever be late there becaue you will have to reschedule your appointment for another 6 weeks.

Dr. Oates and his staff have been professional, caring, and fun. While the treatments are not always pleasant (just by their inherent nature) I have enjoyed my visits to Dr. Oates office. The office is exceptionally clean and bright and all of the staff is professional and pleasant. Dr. Oates and his assistants clearly enjoy a great working relationsip! The friendly banter and conversation goes a long way towards creating a relaxed, fun environment. Dr. Oates has always been super about returning phone calls and getting me in for an emergency appointment when I ate a crunchy crouton that bent my wires!
I am getting my braces off today and my teeth are going to look great!!
