Read Reviews for Dr. Douglas Smith
I was a patient of Dr. Douglas Smith for 5 years…. YES, five years. When I came to his practice I had minor crowding on my two front teeth, no issues with the bottom teeth. In order to straighten my top row of teeth, he utilized a palatal expansion device that I had to turn multiple times per day. This widened the top of my mouth and then allowed the two front teeth to be straightened. The problem is the “fix” he recommended caused me to have a cross bite where my top teeth didn’t sit properly on the bottom teeth. For 3 years, he tried multiple things to fix it but it got worse. He ultimately refunded me. 10 years later, I experience extreme jaw pain, have TMJ, and require jaw surgery. All of this from his improper treatment.

Dr Smith was my ortho when I was 12yrs old and I loved it. I would love to go back if I ever need braces again and would take my kids if they ever need it

I first received braces in 2001, after being told by several orthodontists that it would be necessary for me to receive maxillofacial (jaw breaking) surgery in excess of $20K in order to begin treatment.
I had an extreme open bite, crowding, and an overbite, and could not afford to receive such treatment. I went to Dr. Smith, as a last resort. Dr. Smith took X-Rays of my teeth, and examined them initially, telling me yes, such surgery was an option, but for me it was completely unnecessary.
He recommended four tooth extractions to begin the orthodontic process. An adjacent tooth needed a root canal, however, and he recommended we remove that tooth, instead of one he originally wanted remove, to ease the burden of cost. (A saving of hundreds of dollars!)
I went on to receive treatment through his practice, and wore my rubberbands, brushed, and flossed as required for accelerated progress. My braces were off in 2 years, as he predicted, and I have been complimented on my teeth by strangers, and even dentists ever since!!
I couldn't be more thankful to him for being such a kind individual who truly cares about the fair treatment of his patients, and of course for doing such a wonderful job on my teeth!

My daughter has been receiving treatment from Dr Smith for the past 2 years and we would absolutely recomment anyone looking for excellent service and great results to visit one of his offices, especially the one in Acworth. The staff takes the time to explain the purpose of each procedure and what to expect, which relieves anxiety. Most importantly, there is never more than 5 mins wait from your appt to the time you're actually seen by staff.

I was a former patient of Dr. Smith and let me tell you, the staff is woderful and careing, however Dr. Smith himself does not care about you as a patient only to get your braces off and leave you alone. I had a permanent retainer which was man made not what I paid for and after several years it fell out and I went back to Dr. smith and he would not fix the retainer but told me to pay more money.

I am a former patient of Dr. Smith and I highly recommend going elsewhere. As an Ortho assistant I have discovered what poor work he and his staff do. Once your treatment is paid for the braces come off ready or not. Although he has a very cheap price please think of your children first. LOOK ELSEWHERE.
