I made an appointment to discuss a possible implant to determine the cost. i thought it was complementary and the doctor would not discuss.
When i left, i was charged $162 for an XRay and examination that i did notbrequest or approve.
He only mention that he could do an extraction as part of the Implant procedure to save money.
But when i tried to make an apoint the doctor said NO.
so i was left with my missing tooth and $162 for an examination that i did not need or request . nothing to show for $162.
I WAS NOT PLEASED AND WILL DISPUTE THE CHARGE.

Dr Boquel is a fantastic periodontist. He takes his time with you, explains everything very well and does not rush you if you have questions or concerns. I felt no pain during my visit here.
About Front Desk: very competent and caring front office. You can tell they really enjoy working at the office.
About Hygienist: excellent care and prompt attention

I visited Boquel on two occasions – several years apart. For both, my dentist wrote a referral for receding gums. My experience: if Boquel remains professionally within the scope of your dentist’s referral, then you’ll enjoy his levity and his “friendly” staff. BUT if he strays beyond your dentist’s referral, then buyer/patient BEWARE: you may encounter deception, high out-of-pocket expenses that are not covered by your dental insurance, dismissive comments from his office manager, condescending follow-up emails and letters, and requests to sign legal releases. To date, Boquel has proven to be the most untrustworthy dental/medical provider I’ve encountered during my 10 years in the DC Metro area. He may exert more cost and effort defending his authoritarian status than professionally assuming responsibility for his business’s poor management and deceptive practices.

I went to Dr Gerard Boquel, DDS for a 2nd opinion. Dr Boquel said that I required treatment immediately since it was a pretty severe problem in a few areas. This was in stark contrast to what my previous periodontist had found. Because I was concerned by Dr Boquels evaluation I started treatment right away even though he was the most expensive periodontist in the area. I assumed I would receive quality treatment from a professional with experience & education, but thats not what I found.
Every office visit I had scheduled required that I wait between 20 - 40 minutes to be seen. When I explained to the hygienist and Dr Boquel that the waiting was a concern it was dismissed a requirement for the privilege of being seen by him.
I had to ask about the status of my condition and for a treatment plan & when I did Dr Boquel always provided an evasive & vague response. Dr Boquel at 1 point basically said I was taking too much of this time with my questions. This behavior made it seem like the only thing he was interested in was generating revenue, rather than patient care.
Dr Boquel recommends this strange home treatment they ask you to complete everyday with a toothpick that takes about 30 minutes where you push your gums up and trace them with the toothpick
I found Dr Boquel to be arrogant and have a terrible bedside manner.

Dr. Boquel was recommended by my orthodontist, and he has already treated me for gum surgery / bone graft. When we first met, he was very thorough and non-condescending in explaining everything to me. I also enjoyed his intelligent and quick-witted demeanor. His work was excellent. He is not "dramatic" about what needs to be done, and I left with little/no discomfort. I am highly confident of his abilities and will continue to see him as needed.

Convenient located steps away from DUPONT Crl. Metro. Front desk staff is friendly, professional & super-helpful. Dr. Boquel has been doing implants for 22 years. He made me feel very comfortable, listened to my questions & concerns, was very concerned about my pain-level & has a great sense of humor. The work he did on me has always been successful, and I would not go anywhere else.

I had to have gum surgery- he was very good. I would definitely recommend Boquel. Unfortunately, he doesnt take my new insurance.
