Gum graft. Much pain and he told me to take codiene tylenol extra without telling me to eat something though i cpuldnt because if surgery pain N&V due to codeine. Mild temp but he said no problem. It was weekend. Emailed it was hot hard and painful. Emailed back 'hang in there'. Noticed infected gums so came in Monday said new antibiotic yes it was infected.
Lots of pain wrote and called told he would see me at next appt in 10 days. Got there he didnt say hello or how are u just took out stitches and left room. He had said I was fine though I said Iwasnt fine. I asked staff to call him back as I still had a lot of pain, unable to sleep because of it and didnt know why nor had I been told to anticipate it. He came back and stood in front of me and raised his arms in the air and said 'What do you want?'
Called his office manager to let her know how upset I was at this unacceptable and unprofessional interaction. No response

Peridontal surgery over 10 years ago and routine cleanings thereafter to maintain good peridontal health. Very successful. Hygienists are terrific.

Dr. Rice is very competent periodontist. All of my implants were done in his office. He is very quick in his procedures with minimal pain. Recently Dr. Rice did two implants with bone grafts following tooth extractions. I will continue with Dr. Rice as I have full confidence in him and his highly technical procedures. The prices for what he does is commensurate with skill required and materials used. I would recommend Dr. Rice to anyone with severe periodontal disease as I have.

I was referred to Dr. Rice by my dentist and health care provider for periodontist work with infected jaw under two root canal'd teeth, tooth remains were extracted, jaw scrapped, bone grafted onto jaw.
Dr. Rice was very thorough in explaining the problem and procedure, on the day of the procedure he was very kind and helped put me at ease.
I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone in need of his services.

I went to Dr. Rice a few years ago with bad gum disease. He operated on me and performed other procedures. He is an excellent surgeon and a true professional. The course of treatment he devised has worked, and saved me money over the alternatives. Periodontical work, by its nature, is uncomfortable, but he did a good job in minimizing the pain. His office is bright and well organized. The cost is about average for periodontal work and his staff works well with insurance companies.
About Hygienist: His hygiensts are excellent, as is his receptionist. I recommend him highly.

Dr. Rice's procedures are too painful and I had to keep asking for more shots on multiple visits. Furthermore, he doesn't sit patiently with you to answer all your questions. He writes in your chart while you speak to him, and is in and out, before you have a chance to finish asking him questions. I felt he treats his patients like a business, and is more interestedin seeing lots of patients to make money, rather than spend the necessary time with each individual patient. I was very upset during my last visit with him, and will now find a new periodontist.

Dr. Rice is an excellent periodontist. I needed lots of gum graft work, and I interviewed several perios in the area before choosing him. He is fairly personable, but more importantly, he seems to be a skilled surgeon. His receptionist, Doris, is terrific, and the office is sparkling clean and beautiful.
Dr. Rice offers the option of a kind of pseudo-sedation dentistry consisting of a "cocktail" of drugs taken an hour before the procedure that totally knock you out - a combination of Xanax or Valium, Darvocet and something else. It works like a charm - I never remember anything for 2 full days afterwards! I've had 3 procedures with him now - a splint followed by 2 gum grafts, one upper and one lower. He did around 10 teeth in one 4-hour sitting, which was amazing. This stuff is never fun, and it takes awhile to heal completely, but I thought the long-term results were excellent.
Periodontal work in general is outrageously expensive. I can't really speak to cost for Dr. Rice compared to others, especially because my insurance paid for most of it, but I can say that his office staff is great at helping you make the most of your dental insurance coverage, if you have it.
Overall, a great dentist.
