WOW!! I did an implant - paid $3700 cash (no insurance) - for only implant and abutment (not including crown from elsewhere. Evidently the hole was drilled at the wrong angle (which is what my general dentist said) and instantly she says it's sticking way too far out of the line of teeth - there for it needs a custom abutment. They'll just send for a refund and I can pay the difference for the custom abutment. We did all that - but Dr Payne's office never did consent to the refund... and so I'm out $500 for a pre-fab abutment that I can't use. He won't even meet me half way or even the difference ($200) for the custom abutment.
So the way I see it. It was shotty work to drill the hole at the wrong angle, and again shotty work to not notice when the prefab was installed that it was way out of line. He's a periodontist - a freaking speciallist! Two points of mistake... and they still won't take ownership of any of it. They could've made it right in the first place when placing the abutment - doing a custom abutment for the $200 extra (he is the specialist here and he missed it!!) - I'd been happy with that. instead, I'm out $500 and absolutely no value for it (with a Pre-fab abutment in hand that is not returnable). CRAZY!

Dentist is impersonal. I was recommended to this dentist. He worked with my general dentist on my implants. I went back and forth from my general dentist to him trying to determine the cause of my discomfort and pain and neither wanted to take responsibility. I asked him to complete my implant procedure and he refused to do so. By the way they bill you on your first visit so you are stuck with them to complete the procedure. I would not recommend this dentist. This has been a six month ordeal!!!
I know this doctor: 6 months

I don't know how to describe the pain that Dr. Payne gave me during my visit (Feb to Sept 2005) to his office for two adjacent implants.
The extensive time, non-caring attitude and the cost disgusted me. Since the two implants were adjacent, the procedure was done with the same number of office visits as one implant, but there was no price break. The process that should have been done in 2-3 months took 6 ½ months and the result was unsatisfactory. From the time that the implants were done until I got my temporary crowns took 4 months. I literally begged them all this time to make an earlier appointment, but I was rudely told that if I am not happy I can go to my general dentist, although they had already charged me for the whole process. Even after having the temporaries placed, they were so poorly made that they didnt fit and the doctor just left the room. They handed me the second crown and asked me to go to my general dentist (who told me that they wouldnt interfere in another dentists unfinished work). Dr. Paynes office was forced to redo the crowns and finally the denturist placed the final crown and Dr. Payne didnt even bother to do the final check. Why should he? Hed already been paid.
