He was recommended by a dental school president. My dental issues are all related to occlusion. Upon the initial appointment I did not like this man. Foolishly I ignored my instinct and followed the recommendation from the dental school.
Dr. Malament never consulted me with his treatment plan. I lost one tooth during treatment due to his neglect. He is arrogant and dismissive.
The day crowns were placed the crowns hit making a scraping sound. Teeth loosened, front crown cracked, a back crown fell out. Implants need to be removed.
Dr. Malament delegates most work to his auxiliary staff. He spent very little time with me, even though I had a full mouth reconstruction. His dental assistant and lab tech spent more time with me than did he.
The final case is a disaster. I have been seen by seven prosthodontist since, all seven have been stunned by the sub-standard dental work done by Malament.
Pain, time lost, sleep lost, a truly miserable experience.
I learned the dental school president who had recommended Malament is a corporate shill between dental products being used in dental practices. Malament is a businessman first, dentist is a distant second.
I should have paid attention to my first impression, avoid him.

I had a total mouth replacement with Dr. Malament. The man is a careful craftsman and, in fact, genius. For "cosmetic result" I clicked "Hollywood Smile," but a Hollywood Smile is artificial and easily spotted. Dr. Malament gave me a natural smile which is actually much harder to achieve! My look is so much nicer than my old one. The goal here was to rehabilitate a mouth which had been ravaged by years of gum disease and poor previous dentistry. Dr. Marc Nevins performed the heroic and miraculous periodontal work, and then Dr. Malament worked the magic which produced my current healthy and beautiful smile. Now it's easy to keep my gums healthy with teeth that work with me towards that goal instead of working against all my efforts. Yes, it's quite expensive, but every day I bless my decision to have this done. I don't miss the money every time that I can smile without covering my mouth, every time I can talk to people and know I don't have bad breath, every time that I brush my teeth and have no bleeding at all---at all! Dr. Marc Nevins and Dr. Kenneth Malament changed my life for the better. I can't thank them enough!

Dr. Malament is one of the very best in his field. He came highly recommended to me from a dentist in California.
I had total confidence in him, and also his staff. He has his own lab right on the premises.
I had no insurance, so had to pay everything out of pocket.
Expensive, yes, but worth every penny!
I had five implants placed, my entire lower jaw was done.
No one could have done a better job. It took a long time...he's a perfectionist, thank Goodness!
I drove back and forth from New Hampshire to Boston for treatment. I wish I could afford to do all of the uppers as well.

First, the rating descriptions above are mis-leading. His facilities are complete - they make everything in his lab - this is NOT like a spa rather it is everything that is needed for excellent work. And success is NOT a Hollywood smile; it is a smile that is attractive but real looking; this realistic look is what is provided.
Beyond the ratings, Ken is a great human. I have been his patient since moving to Boston 25 years ago. He has twice responded to emergencies, most recently helping me connect with the most competent DC orthodontist for my son during the New Year holiday, Dr. Rich Roen.
Regarding Dr. Malament's practice, he is simply the best. As a youth, I lost front teeth in trauma. I am now 53 and have never found an orthodontist of his capability before. Dr. Malament created implants that are realistic and attractive. I cannot stress enough that his work is realistic - no dark line at the gum, no difference from the color of other teeth, no gap difference when flossing 'his' teeth from my natural teeth.
Dr. Malament has also replaced/improved dental veneer for other teeth that had been orginally provided by other doctors decades ago. His work is exactly right.
