Dr. Stokes is a very nice person; however, I have concerns over the procedures I received. I had never had a cavity in my life before or after visiting this office. Upon visiting this dentist, I was treated for 5 cavities. Although I questioned whether 5 fillings were truly necessary at the time, I trusted them and moved on. Recently, a coworker of a friend of mine went to the same office for the first time and was told that she had 6 cavities. She also had never had a cavity in her life, so she got a second opinion and the other dentist gave her a clean bill of health with zero cavities. I have strong suspicions about the necessity of my treatment. This belief is reinforced by the fact that they tried to push me on a teeth whitening treatment, when my teeth are in very good shape and whitening would not be really necessary.
My current dentist is Dr. Tummarello in Fairfax. He is very trustworthy (a trait which I have found is rare in the DC area among dentists) and I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Stokes is a very conscientious dentist who seems to generally care about her patients. She has sat with me and explained all my options in the past. I would highly recommend her. The reason I gave her office two mediocre ratings is because they tend to bill you before your insurance gets processed. Thus you always have bills coming in, even if you may not have any balance. Furthermore, when you call her office assistants, they are obtuse and unhelpful.
Other than that, her office is terrific. If you like seinfeld, each of the office chairs has a LCD tv build in which plays seinfeld re-runs nonstop. That may be a plus or minus. You decide.

After 32 years with my dentist who retired, I searched for someone who I could stay with. I found Karen Stokes and immediately knew she was the one for me. Her concern for patient comfort it unconditional. She is in a practice that is devote to patient knowledge, information, and involvement. She will first determine what your expectations are and she will develop a plan that you can trust and to which she will hold herself accountable. I am very glad I found her, and I plan to stay with her practice. Frank Shults, McLean, VA.

When I first moved to the area I had another dentist and was not thrilled with my experience. Bridgework that was done 9 years ago began to loosen and I wanted to find another dentist. I discovered Karen and can say that she is the best dentist I have ever had. Her temperament, smile and gentle nature to a long in way in making a very bad and expensive situation acceptable. Her skills are impeccable. Another plus for her is the attention to detail and a dogged determination to make her work as perfect as possible.
I adore her and recommend her to everyone I know. Her schedule is packed so it is difficult to get in, but she is worth the wait.
About Hygienist: I can't recall the name of the hygienist there, but he is great. Wonderful and charming personality. And the teeth and gums felt wonderful!

Dr. Karen Stokes is an outstanding dentist: "Simply the Best!" As soon as you meet her is like you she has been your dentist for years. I am looking forward to continue my care with Dr. Stokes, she is the best Dentist I have met thus far. Thank you Karen for your unconditional passion to your patients.

After ten years with one dentist, and now with Dr. Karen Stokes, I realized what I had been missing. Her careful attention to detail, excellent communication skills combined with state of the art equipment and commitment to both long term and short term results are a revelation. Dr. Stokes has a 'bedside" manner that has you feeling that you are attended by both a fine dentist and yet a truly caring health professional. Her staff from the reception area, to billing, to the assistants are very capable. I had alot of work done to replace old fillings and crowns so I have been a frequent visitor. I am so satisfied that I will miss my visits after most of the work is completed,,,believe it or not! Plus they have a great coffee machine! I highly recommend Dr. Stokes both because of her amazing skill and care giving.
