I've had many dentists in my 70 plus years--my first was a butcher and I've had many passable ones since. Not until I was 71 did I find a dentist I would rate "Excellent." This is Dr. Sapana Kothary of Meridian Dental. When my insurance would no longer cover the dentist I was seeing, I randomly selected Dr. Kothary. What a fortunate random selection! After the usual procedures with the technician, Dr. Kothary entered, very friendly and calmly. She did many things that no other dentist had ever done: First she showed me--a 70 year old--how to brush my teeth. Then she showed me the proper flossing technique. Past dentists had simply said, "Brush your teeth and floss." My teeth were so bad that she put me on a three time a year regimen. Needless to say, no more cavities since she started to take care of my teeth. She and her staff make it their primary mission to communicate and educate. She installed veneers on my two upper front teeth that look as natural as the rest of my teeth. I have complete confidence and trust in Dr. Kothary. I highly recommend Dr. Kothary and her staff at Meridian

I ended up with Dr. Kothary's office due to proximity to my home and that they took my rather limited, employer sponsored insurance.
The office is nicely maintained and the staff friendly enough. Dr. Kothary and her staff handled my 3 & 4 year olds rather well. They didn't cry at all during their exam. (Although I attribute most of that to our preparation of them, as parents) Our treatments were basically general exam, x-rays, and cleaning. I did purchase a mouth guard, which my insurance did not cover, and the price seemed a little pricey ($450). The staff was really good, however. They were cordial, pleasant to work with and in tune with the office and patient needs.
Dr. Kothary seems to know her stuff and is passionate about teeth. Every visit, I get to see her gums. She has very straight teeth and perfect gums, which she likes to show off during a tutorial of how to brush. After a few years of visits however, It does start to get a bit repetitive. That being said, I felt no pain with Dr Kothary and she gave me the feeling of care and took the time to explain everything; that I liked a lot. My only real complaint is that for some reason, my spouse got a bad "vibe" from her, so we, unfortunately, won't be going back.
About Hygienist: Trish was fantastic. She really knows her stuff too and was pleasant and professional. Trish was very thorough and professional. She was gentile and actually explained what she was doing very well, along the way.

What a wonderful facility, staff and dentist. A very welcoming and friendly environment. The staff were very sweet and attentive with my young children. Doctor Kothary is so cool and very professional. I highly recommend this dentist and facility to anyone in the San Jose/Willow Glen area.
