I made an appointment for teeth cleaning. After the dental hygienist cleaned my teeth (the old-fashined way), he asked me to wait a few minutes so he can have Dr. Alderson take a look. Dr. Alderson just took 3 minutes to look at the work her hygienist did. I went out to the receptionist to pay my bill. She told me it was $200.00 I was stunned! $200 just for teeth cleaning. I then asked her how much was teeth cleaning and she said $120 plus $80 for the exam. She asked me if I had an exam and I said I don't think so. She then went to the back to check and came back and told me that there was an exam. I was in a hurry and paid it thinking I can resolve this with Dr. Alderson later. I mean if you're going to include an exam with teeth cleaning and charge for it, then you should let the patient know this. And if you're going to charge $80 for an exam, then do a real exam with x-rays. Don't just take a few minutes to take a look and charge $80. I told Dr. Alderson I plan to go back to my original dentist, Dr. Stanley Tong, since he only charges $80. Dr. Alderson's reply was to let her know where to forward my dental records and asked where does my dentist cut corners?
