Read Reviews for Dr. Gary Ellenbogen
My husband and I have been going to Dr. Ellenbogen for a long time and we not only regard him as a great dentist, but a great friend. When we were having trouble with our daughter he asked us if there was anything he could do to help out. Way beyond what most dentists would do. Both my husband and I have done complete dental makeovers with him and not only do they look beautiful, but natural (unlike many other people I see in this area that have very unrealistic cosmetic dentistry done). He halso helped our daughter with her self-esteem by doing her invisalign case at a very low cost because of his concern for her well being. We cannot recommend him highly enough.

Dr. Gary Ellenbogen did my wife's porcelain veneeres on her front teeth, and while they weren't the least expensive in the area ... I understand why. He is a perfectionist who maintains a very high standard for the materials he uses and the lab he uses. They were having a hard time matching the color of my wif's teeth and she and I were sent to visit his lab to get the right shade. I was equally impressed by his state of the art lab. "you get what you pay for" Dr. Ellenbogen is the very BEST you can find

RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL! I would definitely NOT recommend Dr. Gary Ellenbogen, even to my worst enemies. This dentist is perpetually late and full of excuses. At my last cleaning, the hygienist told me Dr. Ellenbogen would not check my teeth after my cleaning because he was too busy. But as I left, I walked by his room and saw him laughing with his other patient. Incredibly disrespectful that I took time off work and he refused to see me and discuss my concerns about my nightguard that he made! The next time I went, I was told that the doctor had left for the day, so again, I would not have an exam. Requested my records on the spot and am now seeing my wife's dentist Dr. Nastaran Ejtemai, who is WONDERFUL!!!
About Hygienist: The hygienist(s) are very nice and competent, though I seem to meet a new one every single time I went back, there must be a high turnover working for this guy.

I had the same experience with Dr. Ellenbogen. He seemed more focused not on the health of my mouth but on the cosmetic aspect of how it looked and kept recommending expensive cosmetic procedures. I had gone there for hyghiene purposes not for cosmetic procedures.
Also he filled a cavity that caused me problems which I had to return for. He stated that there was sign of decay and I needed to have a root canal. He didnt even look at the tooth, which I thought was odd and when I questioned him about it he said he looked at the xray in another room. I got a second opinion and his diagnosis was not true, but the filling had to be redone. I only went to him for a short peroid of time and never felt comfortable with him or that I could trust him as a dentist, my thoughts came true. Also he had an office in Fairfax that was in poor condition, messy and out of order but when I went to one in McClean it was in excellent condition. Odd that offices would vary so much.
About Hygienist: His hygienist was very friendly and gentle.

I like the doctor and he seems very knowledgeable, but, every time I go, he recommends some expensive procedure that doesn't seem completely necessary. It's gotten to the point that I'm avoiding going b/c I don't want to be pressured into fixing something else that doesn't seem broken. They accept lots of the different insurance plans and are otherwise easy to work with. I'm wondering if others have had a similar experience in regards to the recommended treatments.
