Dr. Ragnell took over the practice of my retiring dentist several years ago. First, let me say that Dr. Ragnell is a competent dentist. After initial reactions of him being lacking the "bedside manner", lately he has really been trying to come across as a friendlier dentist. Unfortunately, after my recent last cleaning, I am now looking for a new dentist. The hygienist, during her exam, pulled out some type of light to do an oral cancer screening (I believe this used to be done by the dentist via manual exam.). No problem - this office, over the years, has continually been trying new things. The surprise came with a $30 charge for the screening. Here's the problem: (1) I was not consulted as to the pros and cons and if I wanted this test, (2) after the fact, researching this test shows that its effectiveness is being greatly questioned by many dental professionals, and (3) that same research is causing me to question why the hygienist (who was a newer, inexperienced one) did the screening rather than the doctor. Then, when questioning the charge, I was told that it is the doctors perogative to decide. I'm sorry - it's not. I'm not an open wallet from which the doctor can whatever he wants. This is a serious breach of trust.

I was new to the area and visited Dr. Ragnell due to the convenience of his office. In my lifetime, I've had several root canals and fillings, so I'm very aware of how treatments should go. I went to Dr. Ragnell because a crown of mine was loose (put in by another dentist) and I was hoping the Dr. Ragnell would fix it. Needless to say, I went in and he bad- mouthed my previous dentist and proceeded to tell me that I had received bad work on my mouth. Also, he told me that he was going to have to take out my crown and fit me for a new one. I was in disbelief because my previous dentist was amazing and I couldn't believe the lack of professionalism that Dr. Ragnell showed in my visit. I was desperate to get my crown fixed so I agreed to let him do the work. In all of my visits to him, he was arrogant and never listened to my dental needs. Additionally, he was very rude to his assistants and it was painful to watch.
In the end, the crown that he fitted me for never felt right in my mouth and when I would tell him that, he would get upset with me and tell me and that I wasn't giving it a chance. The crown lasted a whole 6 months before it popped out! Costing me $1,800.
My experiences with Dr. Ragnell were horrible.

The dentist said he was not able to help me because he could not find out what tooth was causing me the pain and told me that i was just going to have to deal with it until the nerve in my tooth actually dies. This has already been excruciating and the fact that he expects me to just deal is unacceptable. I havent slept in days and I can't take it!

This doctor is professional, yet very expensive and the office if full of old equipment. Also, did not turn in my full list of work done to my insurance. I caught it and my insurance paid another $160 after.

First, I did my oral cleaning. Hygienist is a very pleasant lady, explained me everything, while doing the cleaning, it was great to be her patient.
Then, doctor Ragnell came. He told me, that my previous doctors made a bad job, treating my tooth and would fix it by applying the proper filling if I let him. Plus he advised me to consider to have two crowns. It was too expensive for me, so I refused, but I asked him about this improper job of my previous doctors - what do I gain If I get it fixed. He said, that I would not have food stuck between my teeth. This was a great argument, since it was a nightmare extracting food each time after eating. So I agreed.
Eventually, he did his job, HE DIDN'T fix the problem, but used the materials, which are not covered under my insurance. After the visit I was asked to pay immediately. I was forced to sign a paper with the details of my visa card. They took 100$. Then in a week or so I called them, complaining about the fact, that I get food between the teeth. Doctor Ragnell said he couldn't do anything and, OUTRAGEOUS!, wanted to charge my insurance company for this visit! In a week I received a letter - they charged my credit card without asking me with the paper I signed initially!!!
