Had bad recession all over, especially on canine and front teeth. My gums were very thin. Dr. Yu did grafts and really saved my teeth. He has a method of taking the tissue from the side of the mouth roof (not the top). He is able to cut a flap, take from under and cover back over. I heard so may bad stories about being in pain. I did end up with exposed sores. I don't have a lot of tissue to take but he was able to do it. Surgery was on Thursday. On Saturday, I took out the retainer for eating. I had about 10 teeth done in one appointment. All of the grafts took. He worked on my mouth for about 1.5 hours.
You have to be careful eating but it's not impossible. I rested 5 days before going back to work, ate soup and rinsed with mouth wash often. If you don't move around a lot, there is no need for heavy pain killers. My front teeth were beginning to wiggle a bit. They are totally solid now. No more sore areas around the gums. Dr. Yu saved my teeth. Worked with me on the price. My insurance was not that great. Dr. Yu is amazing and staff is the very best. It gave me hope again, very positive experience. The gums look good and totally normal now. My dentist said that the grafts were the best he had seen.
About Hygienist: You can tell the staff are some of the best in the city. This place is a first rate operation. They have a new state of the art surgery center. Dr. Yu's hygienist did a complementary stain removal. The mouth wash stains but comes off with cleaning. They worked with me on how to brush.

Dr. Yu did my sinus graft and implanted a molar. He patiently explained in great detail exactly what work needed to be done and made himself personally available 24/7 if I had any questions or concerns. There was almost no pain and certainly no surprises about procedures of cost. Dr. Yu is committed to perfection in his work. Dr. Yu and his staff are kind, gentle professionals who understood my fear and anxiety and consistently took the time to calm and assure me. Don't let his beautiful offices fool you, even though you feel like you're in a Beverly Hills dental office his prices are very reasonable. In fact, Dr. Yu is not on my dental insurance plan but he worked with me on reducing his rates considerably.
I've been to many many dentists/periodontists over the years, and Dr. Yu is by far the BEST ever.

Dr Yu is the most knowledgable talented Perio around.. Did a great job on me and continues to help me improve my perio health

Dr. Yu Did a Bone graft on me in prep for an implant he is going to do .. I have had more work done than 99% of the population i know a good Dr. when i find one... Dr. Yu is brilliant.. he is by far and away the best perio i have ever been to. He is on cutting edge of tech and is just beyond capable.. Also.. they have a great general care plan.. and are very capable of getting your gums in shape.. if you are looking for someone even to just do general cleanings this should be your #1 pick..

Dr. Yu and his staff were first class. Dr Yu conducted the crown lengthening procedure and I could see the difference right away. His staff is caring and attends to your every need. I have been spoiled by Dr. Yu and his staff.

Dr. Yu is the best periodontist I have been to. I went to 2 others and he stood out as the most caring and knowledgeable. I would recommend him to anyone- not only with implants but any other procedure. Fantastic staff.

Dr. David Yu is absolutely wonderfull. He takes the time, doesnt make you feel rushed. Explains everything in such detail. Over all, very sincere, and caring. His staff just adds to that. Warm and friendly faces, totally helpfull and thoughtfull. Dr. Yu did crown lengthing and grafting on me. I never felt any pain post- op, none at all. Slight discomfort, which was to be expected. He followed up by calling me at home that evening, which in my opion is very comforting. Anyone who has to have any type of perio surgery, would be a fool not to consult w/ him first. Ive become his biggest fan, I hold the highest regards for him and his entire staff.
