We love Dr. Shafer. The whole family goes to him. His work is amazing and he does his work with a smile or story to keep your mind off of what is going on in your mouth.

Very mixed reviews on this dentist office - some things were pretty good (hygenists in general), but some things were pretty bad -- including course of treatment, billing, and front desk help etc. I found (and confirmed with other dentists afterwards) that the recommendations on procedures were more agressive than what was often needed. Additionally, many recommendations seemed to be costly procedures that were not typically covered by insurance, but the doctor or office didn't bother to let you know even though well aware of these facts. Subsequently, I've learned this is not typical of other good dentist offices where they work with patients on appropriate treatment plans and offer such information in pursuing various options and treatment plans. I often found this office to be extremely unhelpful and unwilling to provide relevant information.

If you care about your teeth, do NOT see Dr. Shafer. He convinced me to do an unnecessary procedure on my two front bottom teeth. He told me he was going to give me fillings to fix a few minor chips in my teeth. He ended up having my teeth down so much that the "fillings" were non-existent. When I told him I was unhappy w/ the procedure, he said he could re-do it, but he would charge me again. I was mortified. My two front bottom teeth are now uneven w/ my other teeth. Much worse than when I started. He is completely unprofessional. I do not recommend him at all.

Dr. Shafer has done extensive work on my teeth. The results are exceptional. He is the most painless destist I've ever had. He and his staff are professional and efficient. I've recommended him to many of my friends and co-workers who've also been extremely pleased with his services.
He's the best in my opinion.

Although Dr. Shafer himself seems to be OK, his hygenists are really rough and seem to rush you through. There were going to charge me for a filling when all I needed was a sealant repair and the cost differential is over $100. I'm not going back to them because I just don't feel comfortable there.
