I've been a patient of Dr. Helliwell for over 20 years. I carefully selected him, getting recommendations from Orthodontists who see the work of many dentists. I drive from San Clemente to Newport Beach because he is that good. I finally got my husband to change to Dr. H. and he now wishes he had sooner as Dr. H resolved his dental issues immediately. His office manager, Lisa is one of the most efficient you will find in any medical or dental office. I passed the first CA state board exams and worked as a dental assistant for 6 years. I am very picky about dental work and Dr. H. is one of the best in the business.
About Hygienist: Stacy is extremely competent, gentle and has a wonderful way about her. Both my husband and I really 'enjoy' our teeth cleanings because of her. She does a great job.

I have been a patient of Dr. Helliwells for about 10 years and cannot say enough good things about him. He is an excellent dentist. I am very anxious about dental work and his gentle manner, years of experience and conservative approach enable me to trust him, which of course helps reduce my anxiety. His hygienists are top-notch. I highly recommend Dr. Helliwell.

There's not a better dentist anywhere. I went to him for years and tried to switch when I moved away from the beach. I suffered for two years with another dentist and finally decided it was worth the drive back to Newport Beach to go back to Dr. H. The other dentist told me I needed $12,000 worth of work. When I went back to Dr. Helliwell, I told him the problem. He said, "Let's try this," and he just filed down a couple spots on my teeth. Voila! My teeth were fine. Not only is he an experienced and knowledgeable professional, he's a totally nice guy. Not sure he's taking new patients though. Good luck getting in! He's worth the effort!

Dr. Helliwell has been the dentist for my entire family for over 25 years and has been terrific dentist and a great guy. In addition to good service, when I needed root canal work, he referred me to an excellent specialist. I really don't know about his prices since I have done no real research on dental costs in the area. But they never appeared to be particularly high. We have no dental insurance since the cost always seemed so much higher than the actual amounts we have paid to Dr. Helliwell over the years.
