Dr. Joy has treated my dental problems for 23 years. This has involved crowning teeth, doing root canals and general supervision of my care. He is a perfectionist in everything he does, meticulous, exacting and patient. He hates to cause any pain to his patients so he is dedicated to pain control. He judged one of the crowns the lab had made for me to be substandard and insisted that it be done again perfectly. In his clinical style he is friendly, reassuring, respectful and very funny when you get to know each other. His office staff is professional, friendly and helpful, and his dental assistants are highly educated and knowledgeable about the procedures that they are doing or helping Dr. Joy with. I would absolutely recommend him to others. My three children have also seen him over these years, and I think that the best thing I could say about Dr. Joy is that no one in my family hates going to the dentist.
About Hygienist: Since I have seen Dr. Joy for twenty-three years, I have seen different hygienists over the years. Every one of them has been highly professional, friendly, and interested in pain control.

Yeah, the guy is good.
But I am writing about Arlene, his cleaning technician. I am sorry I am ignorant about the nomenclature, what she is called. May I suggest "Cleaning Goddess?"
I've been having her clean my teeth since God was a boy, but I recently had serious surgery and I laid on my back like a turtle for some months and then I was embarassed to go to her because my Mouth was a virtual cesspool. She was so gentle, so encouraging, and not at all saying "it's ok that you did not brush" but she also did not come down on me as a cad and waster. Somehow she skates across that boundary onto "onwards and upwards!!" Oh, Gosh, she is good.
And that is what I want to say to Chris Joy: Congratulations for keeping people like Arlene -- for keeping her in your stable of good folk. Honestly, we all open our mouth with hope to you . You have proven again and again how it pays off - but it is still hard for us Yahoos to reveal our underbellys to you.
You get it, right?
Sending love.

Dr. Joy is a great dentist. I've always felt trust when going to him. I also know first-hand that he will go above and beyond to help a patient. I would recommend that you check him out.

Dr. Joy is very expensive and has a superior and somewhat mocking attitude to his patients. I found him to be quite aggressive and proactive about major procedures like root canals and crowns, and recommends them preventatively. He is not a part of dental insurance networks so expect to pay alot, as his prices are high and a low percentageis covered by insurance, combined with his approach to dentistry. I assumed that his prices assured very high quality, but now have some crown work that is giving me concern now. This was identified by the hygienist, not Dr. Joy. I also found that his review of xrays is cursory.

I was referred to Dr. Joy by a friend/co worker. He is terrific - I am young, but have a really bad dental history, and he's fixing everything up without making me feel embarrassed disempowered (something all my other dentists did). I would have recommended other people to him. He's a little pricey, though - I'm glad I have good health insurance.

For routine care, I have had good experiences with Dr. Joy. I recently had a filling done and it was not smooth. He hit a nerve with the injection and I had pain in my cheek for about 6 weeks. It ended up going away entirely. After this, I still recommended him to a friend, but she ended up with similar pain following a filling. Hers lasted about two weeks. That said, I do think he provides quality service. However, I do not trust his clinical skills or opinions completely. I have about 80% confidence in his clinical skills. I guess that means I give him a B.

When my previous DDS retired, Dr. Joy took over his patients. I don't know him that well because he only has a couple of minutes to spend with each patient. Most of the time is spent with the hygienist. When he does pop in, he always asks me who my orthodontist was. It is possible he is just making conversation but it is odd that he asks this each time. Makes it seem like he hasn't reviewed my file at all. The office is a little outdated. The hygienist was nice but the support staff seemed a little grumpy.

Dr. Joy and his staff are terrific. Their office is nice and relaxing. The receptionist gives repeated notices to confirm appointments. Dr. Joy is a terrific dentist with a great sense of humor and a keen eye for giving you the perfect smile. I would recommend Dr. Joy and their staff to anyone who is considering dental treatment.
