Love all the doctors in this practice! We've always had great experiences, and kids love all the prizes!
About Front Desk: Always cheerfully greeted and they engage with the kids, asking about their lives. Very nice practice altogether.

Expensive. Run like a business. Skilled assistants turn over rate is high. New hired are not as good. Dr. Light is not as available as previous years. She only works a few days a week and is usually very busy when she is in the office. My four kids had braces and general dental care there. The quality of service and attention they received went downhill through the years.

Very expensive. Staff while very pleasant during visits is very poorly organized. 3 separate times we got calls that there was a cancellation and one of our 3 children could come have a cavity filled or other 'required' procedure. Problem was, in all cases, that the children did not need those procedures (i.e. they didn't have a cavity that needed to be filled) and I had to be the one to make them double check the records. They recommended procedures and orthodontist work that upon second opinion with a highly respected 2nd orthodontist (that we had used for our first child) we decided was not at all needed. They do not always return important telephone calls to answer questions. They filled out school forms saying that dental treatment was incomplete, which could have negative effects on the kids being able to go to school, ignoring the second opinions we had received. We have just decided to change back to the dentist we had 5 years ago that we had changed because we moved to Potomac. Now Amy Light's office, after a month of requesting and their saying they would send the kids files, has still not sent their files back to our original dentist. There is just complete incompetence in their administrative function.

It is not easy to get through to the front desk to make appointments. I had to be called back after talking to an automated phone service. Kids are herded through the place and treated brusquely by Dr. Light. I actually saw her not wash her hands between patients! Yuck. Also I felt she wasn't very good with my son who was anxious. We changed dentists and orthodontists. Go if you just want to be one of the Potomac crowd and don't care about service.

The dental care is top-notch and the staff is not only kid-friendly, but very gentle. They have techniques for relaxing the kids (e.g., tv on ceiling).
The only negative is the fees are very high. When you look around the office, you realize why - a lot of money has gone into the interior decorating for this practice.

Dr. Light and her associates are strictly business. I often wondered if we needed the work they recommended for my children or if they were trying to make money. They cancelled an appointment the day of the appointment and when I needed to change the time, they were going to charge me a costly cancellation fee. The employees are often stressed and not friendly. In fact, the turnover rate of employees is very high. Every time my children would like a hygenist, she would end of leaving.
