I am leaving this practice immediately. I took my 4 year old in today for his second filling. the first time he cried a little with the novocaine, but held still and we had no issues. Today I went at lunch time, was pressured into getting laughing gas and my son was essentially tortured. We both left in tears. She put the gas on, 10 seconds later the gel, then immediately shot the novocaine. She gave him no time for the prep to take effect before the needles. When I questioned her, she chastised me and lectured me about her experience. She started to drill and he was screaming and twisting and kicking, i asked is he numb, I think he feels it and she said "this is not supposed to be like Disney world!! I was shocked and began to cry myself. She accused me of not allowing her to move forward when I expressed concern about his pain and ripped everything out of his mouth and confronted me with the option to do it another time!? why on earth would I stop and then put him through that again, she never once asked him if he felt pain. The laughing gas did nothing. I am horrified! I always liked this practice and it was fine for cleanings, but don't ever trust them to do fillings. there was zero concern for me or my son.

This is the only dentist my children have ever been to. I've heard good things but it has always struck me as a factory. There is a room there which i've considered the "torture chamber" as in the past I've heard children screaming in there. Today, it was my son who was in that room. The dentist did not prepare my son, nor me, well for the procedure, he was NOT numbed well enough to have received the painful novacaine shots and as my son was screaming in pain they held him down and continued to "torture" him. It was a horrific and traumatic experience for my son. As he cried and tried to recover from the shots, the dentist threatened him with putting him in a strapped harness....then proceeded to tell him "You've talked enough. It's my turn to talk. I am the adult in the room." I was apalled at the disrespect this practice had for my son...and others I've seen in there before. Needless to say, we did NOT proceed. I left and took my files with me. Tonight my son is still in pain where he received the shots....I completely regret not leaving this practice sooner. Perhaps for a "cleaning" this practice may suffice, but stop there....I do not trust this practice at all.

I have taken my daughters to Gainesville Pediatric Dentistry since 2006. Mostly we see Dr. Shingler, but sometimes we have seen Dr. Davis. They are both excellent with children and very good at what they do. They are professional and accommodating. I have had to call after hours before and never had a problem reaching a dentist or obtaining the help we needed. They have fit us in for an emergency once, and did a last second x-ray for an orthodontia visit without an appointment. The staff is friendly, helpful, and courteous. The office is clean and modern. My children have never been afraid to go to the dentist thanks to this office. One of my daughters has had two fillings. Both have had bonding of all permanent molars. I have never had a problem with insurance issues and they have always let me pay any balance after they billed my insurance.
