Dr Doran is very gentle and makes procedures virtually painless. Thorough knowledge of dentistry and very efficient. Nice guy too.
About Front Desk: Nicole is on top of everything and she is also a surgical dental assistant! Amazingly helpful, pleasant and hard-working!
About Hygienist: Margaret is the best!! Very thorough and knowledgeable

dr doran makes me feel very at ease and i would recommend him to any patients who have a fear of the dentist.
About Hygienist: hygienest is exceptional and it is nice knowing who is going to be doing the work. dr doran has had no turnover in staff in at least 10 years.

We love Dr. Doran's office. Margaret is a great hygienist, but Dr. Doran cleans a mean tooth as well. Both my parents also go to Dr. Doran. My insurance pays for most everything Dr. Doran does to my teeth, and his charges are usually at or under the "reasonable and customary charges" insurance allows, which is nice (no added cost). I've never had any pain there; and their care and quality are excellent.

I used to go to a hustling, high stress dentist office - and every visit they reccommended loads of expensive procedures. Then I switched to Dr. Doran - his office is low key, low stress and my teeth are doing just fine without all the options my former dentist pushed at me. Dr. Doran is gentle and thorough, and I really like his staff's attitude. They treat me as a person, with courtesy and respect. I also like the detailed photos Dr. Doran uses to track changes in my gum problems.

We've been seeing Dr. Doran since he had an office in San Jose. My family drives in from the Santa Cruz area because we like his work and professional skills. He's a very nice person, too, very gentle and caring.

Dr. Doran is the personification of professionalism.
He and his hand picked staff leave no room for improvement ...of any kind...and are consistently outstanding in every area.
Dr. Doran has an extremely pleasant demeanor, and exhibits every characteristic of what a thinking person would want in a dentist.
I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him and his office staff to family member or a friend...which I have done, and for which I have been thanked repeatedly.
I cannot say enough good things about this highly talented dentist, but I am a hard to please, demanding person...and my recommendation is unqualified...without exaggeration.
If you can find a better dentist...sign up with him.
Otherwise, this endorsement is offered in a spirit of truthfulness and sincerity.
You could do no better than Dr. James Doran.
P.S. After better than 50 years of experience with practitioners in the field of dentistry...I would hope that this endorsement

Doctor was angry, confrontational and dishonest. He installed 2 fillings that were completely unnecessary, and very painful. He also used alloy (metal fillings) against my wishes, after he was informed that I was highly sensitive to mercury, and lied about it during and after the process. When I came in a week later, still in pain from the fillings (thinking I had just had one filling, as was described), his assistant reviewed my chart and advised me of the two extra fillings, for which he used alloy and not resin.
A few days prior to that, he performed an expensive elective treatment on my 12 year old daughter without my consulting me, and which was not covered by insurance.
I absolutely discourage anyone from seeking care from this dentist. If you have seen him in the past, you might want to make sure that he did not perform any unnecessary or harmful treatments on you.
