I've been going here for over 20 years. I love him, his staff and everyone I've ever sent here has been thrilled. Since I have to book my appointments months in advance I think most people share my view. When he was out for a few months and his replacement had to do my exam I was devastated, only because no other doctor other than an oral surgeon had touched my teeth since the 1990s. I had awful dentists when I was a kid, I know a good one from a bad one. It's used to cry because I was so sensitive. I never feel a thing with him. There were years I didn't have insurance and he worked with me. He saw me on Christmas Eve for an abscess. The man has his home phone number on the answering machine! I have sat in that lobby probably over 50 times and I have never seen nor heard her or Corrine be anything but pleasant to a client. So there is my review as a decades long customer. He is a wonderful dentist with a pleasant staff that treats you like family.

About Front Desk: Trish and Corrine are two of the nicest people staff I've ever encountered. You can tell a good business by the turnover of the staff. In the 20 plus years I have been going there , he had had the same hygienist, 2 assistants, and maybe a couple of other people at the front desk. Before Trish there was Crystal, I still remember her name she was so nice and she's been gone probably 10 years. People stay because it's a good place to be, for the staff and the clients. You feel it when you walk in.

Hygiene rating:

About Hygienist: Mary!! Are you kidding? The woman actually makes me want to floss. The best!

Patients are loyal to doctors because of two things: 1) His/her knowledge, education and expertise; and 2) A friendly, welcoming environment. While Dr. Jay Martin DDS has the experience, his staff leaves a lot to be desired. To say that Trish at the front desk is rude would be an understatement. Apparently, I'm not the only one with that impression as I've seen numerous complaints about her online. It's a shame because Dr. Martin is losing customers on account of her attitude; and frankly, I don't even think he's aware there's an issue since Trish is the gatekeeper. I was a few minutes late to my appointment due to construction and poor road conditions related to the weather. Trish berated me like I was a child, telling me she didn't want to hear my excuses. She need only look out her office window to see the lane of cars lined up due to the traffic light, rush hour and revised traffic patterns due to the new bridge project at Fox Hill. Additional information found here: theridgefieldpress.com/8… I was scheduled for a cleaning, X-rays and review by Dr. Martin. The X-rays and Dr. Martin would amount to the same time I was tardy, so I told her I'd defer those and proceed forward with the cleaning only. She responded that that would be unethical (she clearly doesn't know the meaning of the word) and that we could only do the X-rays, which take 5 minutes, despite me having nearly 35 minutes of my allotted appointment time remaining. It should also be noted that the only favorable reviews are generated on demandforce.com. Tons of them; too many to actually be legitimate. I went to the demandforce website and found posts about their "shady" services. Mary H., writes "On reviewing one dentist I know had been in town since 2010, found there were reviews from 1990s. He hadn't even been a dentist then. Would not trust these reviews." And there are many more reviews like Mary H's. So, it's fairly safe to assume the 724 5-star reviews Dr. Martin's office has received as of this date are a farce. Needless to say, I'll be bringing mine and my son's dental care elsewhere. Additionally, something for Trish et al to consider - word of mouth equity as McKinsey calls it, is extremely important to retention rates and highly influential. Negative interactions with a business are spread to twice as many people as positive ones.

My Experience: Exam & Consultation, X-Rays
