I've been going to Dr. Pollowitz since I moved to DC over 20 years ago. He is the best! He's doone crowns, fillings and root canals for me. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Always spends plenty of time explaining issues and options.
About Hygienist: I've been seen by many of the hygienists there and they are all very skilled. Sylvia is the hygienist I've been seeing lately and she is very nice and skilled.

When I lived in DC I had all my dental procedures done with Dr. Pollowitz and I make it a point to go to him when I visit DC even since I've moved away because he and his staff always put me at ease and make me feel as comfortable as possible.

I have had two crowns, two veneers, a whitening treatment, and numerous teeth cleanings with Dr. Pollowitz. I used to be terrified of dentists and, since seeing Dr. Pollowitz, I have overcome my fear! He is personable, caring, and, most importantly, does an amazing job. I have had numerous people come up to me and compliment me on my teeth. I am no longer afraid of dentists, mainly because I experience no pain when I am undergoing dental procedures with Dr. Pollowitz. He listens to me and if there is the slightest bit of pain, he stops and adjusts. I would highly and without reservation recommend Dr. Pollowitz.

This is a review written by a mom for her 16 year old. (I couldn't get her to write it, but she gave me input.) She has been going to Dr. Pollowitz and Dr. Brown for about 12 years. The office is beautiful, they have the latest technology, and the office staff is quite pleasant and helpful. She describes Dr. Brown as cool, smart and nice. They bill the insurance company and I pay the difference.

I hadn't been to a dentist in years and was very phobic. Dr. P replaced 2 fillings quickly and nearly painlessly. It was a very good experience and he was very pleasant. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

I was a patient of Dr Brown (Dr Pollowitz' wife and dental partner). When I showed up for an appointment I was surprised to find that I was "given" to Dr Pollowitz. Dr Pollowitz placed 3 composite fillings, all of which had air bubbles which caused pitting and needed replacement after only a few years. During the procedure he was very stingy with the oxygen supply and refused to open the valve so I could breathe correctly. When he had trouble installing a dam in my mouth he left in frustration and had a trainee do the job. The trainee cut my gums rather severely and nearly chipped or cracked my molars with the pliers, and then acted like I was wasting her time. Dr Pollowitz then called me "paranoid" because I asked too many questions about the procedure.
I feel that some of the fillings he placed were unnecessary and that he was overly aggressive in drilling out healthy tooth material to place fillings with multiple surfaces (which cost more than single surface fillings). I have seen many dentists in my life and have never experienced such unprofessionalism and incompetence. I do not recommend Dr Pollowitz.

both myself and my girlfriend felt like we had procedures done that didn't need to be done, and we ended up paying a lot of money for it.

Dr. Pollowitz has a great facility, his assitants are very kind, unfourtunately, Dr. Pollowitz is unprofessional, he does not care about customer safisfaction and he does not accept patient's opinion on his poor performance. I was not happy with the crown he replaced which shows the metal part when I smile. When I went back to complain, he said he would replace the crown only if I sign a paper accepting full responsability for future complications. I have already visited other dentists in the DC area and they told me Dr. Pollowitz made a unethical diagnosis about my tooth's situation just to avoid re-doing his poor job.
