Basically, he misdiagnosed a simple issue, and when he finally figured it out, he did poor, incomplete work to fix it. In the end, I lost a tooth and thousands of dollars.
I needed multiple visits to solve a problem he essentially caused through incompetence. All the while, his staff was giving me mistaken information about insurance coverage, and I spent an unnecessary fortune on an issue he wasn't even talented enough to fix.
When he realized how badly he'd screwed up, he was clearly worried I'd claim malpractice, and turned from "Mr. Friendly" to "Mr. Icy."
The problem was not "solved" until I went to another dentist, who described Yap's shoddy work and warned me I'd eventually lose the tooth because Yap had weakened it so much. It's a few years later, and the tooth just had to be pulled.
Some people on this site like him, and I can see why; he has a big ego, a deep confident voice, a salesmen's style of persuasion, and he makes his staff behave in a very polite and proper way. The problem is that he and his staff are error-prone mediocrities.
I'm not litigious, but I wish I'd sued. His incompetence not only cost me money and a tooth, but pain, suffering, time, and worry, but the whole time, he only cared about himself.

Dr Yap has given me a great smile. He did cosmetic work and turned out very successful. I've recommended him to my friends and families and are all very happy with his overall performance. Thank you Doctor Yap for a job well done !!!

I have been to about 3 dentists before Dr. Yap and I have to say I like him the best. Initially I went in to remove all my ugly silver fillings to the clear fillings. I then decided to get my teeth cleaned and since the staff and Dr. Yap has been so attentive and helpful I decided to stay. Not only does he take time with me but he listens and thoroughly answers my questions. If you are not happy with your current dentist I would highly recommend Dr. Yap.

About Hygienist: I had the same dental hygienist the last 2 times. I like her. She's gentle and thorough.

Excellent service and family-like atmosphere. I love the stress free environment and he uses the latest technology. He also has movie glasses to make procedures a LOT more bearable. Dr Yap does family dentistry and is now starting to take care of my 2 year old. Although he is not a pediatric dentist with all the kid bells and whistles (balloons, cartoon characters on walls, etc.), he and his staff are very welcoming and she is extremely comfortable there.

Dr. Yap removed my wisdom teeth and was very gentle. He even called after my procedure to see if I was okay. My whole family loves him.

Meticulous and thorough. Uses latest technology and techniques. Equipment first rate. Completed 4 implants and replaced 6 crowns. Excellent work throughout. I highly recommend him.
