I was a patient of Dr. Halsema's for several years. I was happy with the quality of the dental work, but ultimately switched dentists because the office repeatedly rescheduled my appointments on short notice. I understand that things come up unexpectedly, and when you're scheduling cleanings six months in advance you're bound to have some that need switched around. But it happened so often that it became frustrating -- I'd request time off work for the appointment, only to get a call to reschedule, then have to change my work hours yet again.

Dr halsema's staff is very pushy! They try to sway you to do something you really don't want to have done. I opted not to have floride treatments done for myself and kids because my husband found out he had sn on set of arthritis causd by floride treatments. After watching my husband go through 5+ years of pain i opted not to have floride treatments done. During my entire visit dr. Halsema made side comments about my husband was controlling and i don't want it to cause you a divorce. Inever indicated that my marriage had problems! I would never recommend going to this dentist! It was such a waste of my time!
About Hygienist: They mixed up my kids ex rays!

Very nice place. Each seat has a massage chair in it with heat. I tend to get cold when I have dental work done, and they provide a blanket. You can also bring in a CD and listen to it via ear-phones while the work is being done.
Dr. Halsema is very conscientious about comfort. Numbing medication doesn't work well for me, and wears off quickly. Dr. Halsema bends over backward to try new anesthetics or combinations to ensure my comfort.

I have been a patient of Dr. Halsema's for many years now. I travel over an hour so that I can have her do my dental work. I have had many problems in the past and lots of pain having dental work done, but since becoming a patient of Dr. Halsema I can truthfully say that is all in the past. I am very difficult to work on as medications do not react on me as they should and she has been able to work around that and has been able to complete many dental procedures for me pain free, for that I am really grateful. In fact, things have gone so well for me that my daughter now drives over an hour so that she too can have Dr. Halsema as her dentist. I highly recommend her especially if you have in the past had problems with your dental work. As to her help, they are all highly trained and only add to her great reputation.

Dr. Halsema has a wonderful new facility up in Carmel now and everything is state of the art. She uses a great computer program and takes digital pictures of your teeth to document what they have done. I had several fillings and cleanings, and everything looks great. I had a tooth get some sensitivity in it a few weeks after they did a filling, and they were very good about getting me in right away to take care of it, and there was no additional charge. Everyone that works there is very friendly. Unfortunately, they are no longer a participating provider with my insurance so i have to find somewhere else to go. My one and only complaint is that they always seemed to overestimate the ammount that we would owe them after what insurance covered, so we ended up paying hundreds too much and it took months before we recieved our refund check for the difference.
