I've been seeing Dr. Dechter for a couple of years. I have periodontal disease and so I get cleanings every 3 months. So far, so good. We haven't been able to get any improvement on my gum issues - just stabilization - so he recommended me to a good periodontist (Dr Rick Singer) to help get control of everything. The hygienists are very friendly, too.

I just had my first dental visit with dr Dechter and had a great experience. His front desk was so helpful as I have had insurance problems in the past at other offices. the hygienist was really competent. My teeth felt really clean. I had a broken tooth and Dr. Dechter spent a lot of time explaining my options . I am glad I was referred to the office and sent my husband to him as well.

I took my 89 yr. old mother to see Dr. Dechter. She needed a full set of dentures and the experience was AWESOME! The front office staff was friendly, pleasant, and knowledgeable. Dr. Dechter had the patience of a saint. He talked my mom through the entire procedure. She was very relaxed and hasn't stopped talking about the experience she received.
Even though Dr. Dechter does not take my insurance company, I have already made an appointment for myself...

Surprisingly, it was a pleasure to go to the dentist when Dr. Dechter was behind it. His personal interest in his patient's well-being is evident on every visit. His office was welcoming, as was the staff. I hope this message finds people looking for dental work in the Wheaton, Silver Spring area, for I highly recommend a visit to this dentist.

I've been going to Dr. Dechter for years and have been very happy up until the past 2 years. He's rushed and gives the impression that he doesn't have time to explain problems areas to you. Once when I asked a question regarding insurance he told me that if he had it his way he wouldn't accept any insurances and "I don't need any new patients." I gave him 4 second chances but after he billed my ins. for trying to fix a reoccuring issue which he created - I decided it was time to move on to another dentist. Ever since he bought the house across the street for his offices (which never panned out) he seems to be more concerned with his $ than his patients.

I have major anxiety about having dental work, and avoid it until necessary. There was a chance I would need a root canal but Dr. Dechter (unlike most dentists) did all he could to avoid this by putting on a temporary crown and waiting until the inflamation was down. The final crown was done a few weeks later and to date ( its been a few months) I am pain free and thrilled!
Dr. Dechter explained everything he was going to do before he did it and for the most part it was pain free and stressless. The office staff was professional and the office itself clean and cheerful. The price compared to my last dentist was about 30% less! I would hghly recommend this office and Dr. Dechter!

I like him and staff. I hadn't gone to a dentist for 10 years, because previous experiences had been so bad. I was very relieved to have Dr. Dechter, who addressed all of my fears and has done a really good job for me and family ever since.

I've been going to dr. dechter for years. Over the years, he has gotten more careless. He has so many patients that his chair-side manner has declined. His parter dr. moy is very friendly and does a better job than he does, but the overall service of the office has gone down hill. I know several people that went to him for years and then stopped going because the service is not what it used to be.
About Hygienist: The hygienists are nice and do an overall okay job. You'll probably get a different one everytime you go in for a cleaning.

Came highly recomended by a friends with kids,
Asked friends when I could not find a DDS who would take delta dental and used the ultra sonic cleaning after my DDS of 30 years had retired.
Had 2 excellent cleanings by now, Dr. Dechter mentors a young DDS who sees me, uses high tech low radiation x-rays for complete view of work to be done.
Wants to replace some 30+ year old fillings.

Dr. Dechter has been a very good, efficient dentist; however, after 20 years of patronage, his costs beyond insurance coverage are HIGH and no longer affordable for our family.
