Dr. Karkar has been my dentist for 15 years. He is a terrific dentist, a perfectionist who wants to make everything perfect. He tells me each time he is about to do anything that might hurt or be a bit scary, so that I can prepare for it, and it's never as bad. He's really good at making whatever we need to do painless and reasonable. I love that he is so attentive and good at maintaining my teeth.
The only thing I don't like so much is that it's expensive. But I do feel like he's the best and so I am okay with his fees.. even if they are sometimes painful. But I chock that up more to the poor state of dental insurance at this point and not so much that it's his fault.

I love my two front-teeth implants. The procedure Dr. Karkar uses is innovative, advanced, streamlined, and painless. In a word not often used about dentistry: sublime. I live in New York City and met Dr. K serendipitously in San Francisco -- and I liked what I heard about his work. I flew out for the procedure and have no regrets. Implant dentistry is by no means inexpensive, but -- if you can afford it -- Dr. K's results are amazing.

Dr. Karkar fabricated a custom mouthgard to resolve ear problems. After four months there is no change in the condition. The mouthguard cost more than double his estimate. When the guard required adaptation after the first few months, the process he employed exposed me to toxic substances and left the guard rough and vulnerable to contamination.

I have gone to Dr Karkar for 5 years now, and recommend him without reservation to others. In that time I have had 7 CEREC inlays, a wisdom removal and one implant. All have gone very well, and Dr. Karkar really cares that the patient is happy and pain free. His office operations is basic, but full of the latest dental technology. I have seen dozens of other dentists in my life, but believe that Dr Karkar is by far the most skillfull and knowledgable in advanced, modern dentistry.
I had another ceramic inlay done at a different dentist, where they had to send away to the lab to have it created. I had to have a several follow up visits - spread over 3 weeks - while they adjusted the size and color of the inlay. I can attest that compared to other methods Dr. Karkar's in office CEREC manufacturing is quicker, more accurate, and aesthetically correct than the other options.
All of this does come at a hefty price, but I feel is worth it. After a lifetime of dental issues, and procedures my dental health has never been so good.

I had a horrible experience with Dr. Karkar and his office. He treated me with total arrogance. His office is run-down and his brother John, the office manager, never bothered to call me back to discuss my concerns. Among those were the fact that they wouldn't put a crown on my tooth after I had a root canal they recommended (they said Dr. Karkar only uses the CEREC crowns, not covered by my insurance. This is in spite of them knowing my insurance coverage from day one.) I got the feeling that Dr. Karkar was more interested in teaching than helping patients- it's probably more lucrative. In the end I had 2 visits, the first I paid $212 out of pocket. The second exam did not provide any treatment that helped my tooth (at which point I was referred to an endodontist). I contacted my insurance company who told me that they paid Dr. Karkar $710 for my treatments. I requested itemized copies of my bills from John, the second I have not received. The first bill ($212) contained treatment they did not provide (For instance, "therapeutic drug injection") As you can tell, in all I feel that they are crooks.
