Several generations of my family used Dr. Leonard Hedrick for decades. When my children needed a dentist, we chose Dr. Guy in the hopes he could be their lifelong dentist as well. We have always loved the staff and were satisfied with the care provided.
However, when my daughter experienced her first dental problem (in her 20s) it turned into a nightmare. First the need for a filling became a need for a root canal. We never fully understood why, but had complete trust in Guy. That was our first mistake.
After the first part of the procedure, she suffered multiple infections and abscesses so severe the entire side of her face was swollen. 4 months, 6 antibiotics and multiple visits later, Guy told us the problem was solved. 2 months later we found out the insurance pre-authorization was done incorrectly and we would be responsible for the massive bill. We began making regular payments, as agreed, for several months.
Suddenly the infection returned, her face swelled and she was in pain again. Guy refused to see her unless the entire bill was paid. We were crushed. We saw her medical doctor who gave her 3 antibiotic injections because of the risk of it spreading to her brain. They sent us to an oral surgeon who took care of the problem in 30 minutes! The surgeon told us the "root canal" Guy had done was never even completed! He wouldn't come out and say it had been done incorrectly but made a big deal of demonstrating to us how an incorrectly performed procedure could cause such a dangerous recurring infection. He said he would not recommend seeing that dentist again and neither would I! God works in mysterious ways. I am so thankful Guy refused to see us that day!
Don't be fooled by the politeness and charm! We were totally fooled for years. When you have a serious need, this dentist is NOT the one you want caring for your family.
About Front Desk: Polite but distracted, slow and not very friendly when something is out of their usual wash-rinse-repeat routine. Incorrectly completed insurance pre-authorization.
