Dr. Nicholas Kamakas extracted two molar teeth. I expressed
my desir my e to keep my all my teeth unless it was absolutely
necessary. Dr. Kamakas showed me my x-ray and explained
explained in great detail the reason why the teeth could not be
saved. He informed me that although both teeth had fillings in
them along with large cavities that formed beneath the fillings. I was shocked
at looking at the cavities under my fillings. Dr. Kamakas was
extremely informative referencing the procedure and explaining why it
is very important to inform my primary care Doctor that I am going
to the dentist to start taking antibiotics prior to any dental care to stop infection
from going to my hip (hip replacement) after surgery.
About Front Desk: The scheduler conducted herself in a very professional matter. The only reason why I did not give her a five is she neglected to inform my husband and I the price for the oral surgery; I learned the amount in the chair after I spoke with Dr. Kamakas.

While the offices are a bit run down -- both in Pine Lawn and U-City where I go, you can not beat their service and efficiency. And they really work hard to make sure everyone can be served, regardless of income.
From the office manager Janet to the dental hygeniest Stephanie to Dr. Kamakas himself -- everyone is great to work with and make going to the dentist like hanging out with an old friend.
I have been a regular due to a medical condition that impacts me teeth -- so I've been in a great deal over the past 5 years. Ive never seen anyone there who seemed displeased with the service.
Whether it's been a cleaning, a filling, a root canal or other services -- they always made sure that I was comfortable beofre starting the procedure and followed up with the appropriate antibiotics , pain medications or mouth rinses as appropriate.
And of course -- like all good dental practices -- as I depart they admonish me to remember to floss more!

Dr. Kamakas is by far the best dentist I've ever had. His staff at the University City location are friendly and efficient.

I went to Dr. Kamakas after another dentist told me I needed a lot of fillings - I suspected that dentist lied, and sure enough, Dr. Kamakas told me I only needed 2. I had both fillings done by him, and even though a piece of the second one broke, he fixed it for free. My jaw hurt (from the painkiller injection) for a few days after each filling, but it wasn't too bad. The only complaint I would have is that it's hard to get an appointment because he's only at the location I go to 1 day a week - but that is more a problem with my insurance than with the service.

Dr. Kamakas is a wonderful dentist. I highly recommend his University City location. He runs a small, personal practice and he is wonderful with his clients. I would not trade him for anything.
