Greetings. I recently moved to the area; Salem, CT. My front porcelain cap fell out. My family dentist is located over an hour away. A coworker recommended Dr. Joseph Kuzmic in Mystic, CT. I went to the office in good faith and believed Dr. Kuzmic would help me. He immediately started talking about having to have a tooth implant ($4,500. +) or at the very least a re-post ($2,000. +). I told him I would have to discuss it with my husband, and would like him to simply re-cement the cap. After he re-cemented the cap, he told me he was going to grind the cap, so my bottom tooth would not "hit" the cap and pop it out. I had the cap for 20+ years, without any problems with it hitting my bottom teeth. Dr. Kuzmic proceeded to grind my porcelain cap for what seemed like forever.
As I sat in the dental chair, I knew something was wrong, my tooth (cap) thickness felt very thin at the halfway point to the end.
I kept telling myself, this is a professional dentist who knows what he's doing. In my heart I knew something wasn't right. The next evening, I was making dinner for my husband and the tooth just cracked in half, horizontally. I was left with half of a front tooth.

About Hygienist: The tooth broke in the spot where Dr. Kuzmic had been over-grinding. I had the cap in my mouth for 20+ years without any problems. Dr. Kuzmic ground my tooth down to a very thin, weak state. I was devasted, embarrassed, angry and felt violated. I believe what Dr Kuzmic did was negligent and highly unethical. I truly do not want to see anyone else have to go through this. If I can help prevent this from happening to one person, I will be satisfied. Now, I had a half of a front tooth! I couldn't smile or even open my mouth!
I trusted this new dentist and left his office compromised.
