Dr. Larkin likes to tell stories, but I believe he doesn't spend enough time listening to his patients to see what they really need. He is probably perfectly competent and he is definitely honest, but I would suggest looking elsewhere. I'm going to say this is not a satisfactory dentist.
My visits were generally routine checkups, but they could have been a lot more. A lot of folksy dental wisdom should have been, in retrospect, from the point of view of now having to visit a periodontist, teaching me how to brush properly. The emphasis Dr. Larkin places on the water-pik is probably a good idea, but his hygienist did not instruct me on how to use one. Dr. Larkin rarely answered my questions directly. I would recommend another dentist in the Springfield area.
