We are a specialty practice that is dedicated to giving our patients the highest level of care in Implant Dentistry and Periodontics. For your specialized care, you need a specialized caregiver. In addition to being a Periodontist, Dr. Puterman is the only dental specialist in the DC area that completed an additional 3 year residency in Implant Dentistry, focusing on complex cases and esthetics. He is also one of the very few periodontists licensed to practice all aspects of sedation. He has published articles in international journals on implants, alternatives to implants, and gum regeneration. Our office is completely focused on expertise, use of technology, and patient service to give you the best experience around.

    can a person "enjoy" gum surgery? maybe not, but having this otherwise dreaded procedure at dr, Puterman was actually relaxing, comfortable, expert, and even entertaining. his personality and humor is like that of your best college professor. he is aware and careful in avoiding pain for the patient. and his patience is extraordinary. although he has many patients, he is never in a rush and makes you feel like you are the most important focus of his day. as far as I'm concerned, he is the only periodontist in Chevy chase and Montgomery county! (this site does not accept initial caps, so I want to clarify that I mean "only" !

    About Front Desk: as with everything else in this office (including perfect decor), a five star establishment!

    About Hygienist: the hygienist and assistant are equally great. I'm not surprised that his standards for all his employees are as high as for himself.

    Dr. Puterman is one of DC's best periodontists and is very friendly and respectful as an individual. He successfully did my crown lengthening (with little pain) and was able to effectively manage through my dental issues. He stays in regular contact following the procedure and was very easy to to get in touch with. He most definitely is worth seeing.

    I saw Dr. Puterman when a root canal (that was done by someone else years ago) failed; the tooth/crown were not salvageable. Needless to say I was not happy and Dr. Puterman patiently explained the "why, what and how" this may have happened and what my options were going forward. He was very thorough in explaining the implant procedure and all that it entailed. His staff was right in sync in answering any additional questions, informing me on what I needed to do pre and post procedure and scheduling that appointment. This was also done with patience, thoroughness and an upbeat attitude that you don't get that often anymore. Dr. Puterman's aftercare was top-notch with several post procedure follow-up calls to ensure that I was feeling okay. It goes without saying that I would highly recommend Dr. Puterman!

    About Front Desk: Dr. Puterman's staff, from the receptionist to the dental assistants, were the epitome of what professionals should be. They were thorough in all matters, helpful when assistance or guidance was needed and a breathe of fresh air...they all were genuinely upbeat. It made for a, dare I say fun, experience!

    I give Dr. Puterman and his staff a 5-star rating for the following reasons: Clean, relaxing environment and welcoming staff; no waiting period once I stepped inside the office; appointment was scheduled promptly after initial contact; friendly and knowledgeable office staff and assistants; professional and warm atmosphere. I was initially very nervous about my procedure. Dr. Puterman and staff eased my concerns by thoroughly answering all my questions and they even gave me the coziest blanket to keep me comfortable during the procedure. Dr. Puterman called me the night after my appointment to check in on me. I highly recommend Dr. Israel Puterman!

    About Front Desk: Marla was fantastic. She efficiently scheduled my appointment and had my prescriptions ready for me two weeks in advance.

    I found Dr. Puterman for a second opinion after not being happy with my original periodontist visit. My case was a little unusual (some severe periodontal pockets and need for wisdom teeth removal as an adult) and I searched through periodontists in the area. After interacting with several, Dr. Puterman's treatment philosophy, personality, and knowledge stood above the rest. He also keeps up with the latest research and is constantly learning more in his field. Consequently, I scheduled my wisdom teeth removals, bone grafts, tissue regeneration, etc. with Dr. Puterman and couldn't be happier. The visits are top notch from the second you enter the door. In addition, Dr. Puterman has a great bed side manner and communicates with you about the procedures being done and what to expect. And, he is a great surgeon--other dentists/orthodontists were very impressed with the results on other treatment visits. I trust his skills, approach, and long-term guidance and very strongly recommend him to anyone looking for a periodontist or oral surgeon.

    About Front Desk: The front desk staff and surgical assistant team are wonderful. Marla is sweet and is amazing to interact with (and handles everything with insurance companies. Isela is often in the surgery room and is the office manager and it was like having a second surgeon there--she calmly explained everything, is great to interact with, and has a passion for the field. Stephanie helps throughout the office and is funny, including nice chats about football--but is also there and jumps in whether it be at the front desk or assisting with readying procedures. The staff makes you actually want to visit.

    I was visiting Washington from Canada and had developed an infection around an implant, done previously, that had become loose. I contacted a dentist and after making an assessment, he felt I needed a Periodontist and sent me to Dr. Puterman. How fortunate I was to have benefited from the excellent care that I received. My problem was much more serious than I realised; however, Dr. Puterman explained everything perfectly and immediately set about removing the implant, repairing the damage and infection and the closure of the fistula. I returned today to have the stitches and bandage removed and everything was fine. Dr, Puterman contacted my dentist in Canada, sent copies of the X-Rays and all information regarding the treatment I had received. The staff also were very professional and kind. I am a nervous dental patient and can only rave about this office. Washington, you are most fortunate to have such talent!

    I am pleased to add high marks for the quality of periodontal treatment provided by Dr. Puterman and his staff. I was referred by my daughter who had also received his care and knowing of her satisfaction and high standards, decided to seek his consultation and eventually, gum grafting treatment. I had been advised by another dentist that I had severe gum pockets--a surprise as I receive regular dental care and no one else had indicated such a need. Dr. Puterman reassured me that the former diagnosis by my 'new' dentist was in error. He agreed that one tooth where the gum was receded could use a grafting procedure. This was performed with great care for my comfort, and much monitoring. Calls were answered on the weekend when I needed clarification as to a temporary bandage displacement and reassurance that all was well at a quickly arranged appointment. The results are quite remarkable--an excellent gum grafting that integrates at the site of the recession beautifully. He also referred me to another dentist for follow up regular care and exploration of a crown replacement, as my recent experiences with two other dentists had been unsatisfactory (a first after many decades of great care in DC and CA).

    About Front Desk: Front desk staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. They are thorough and the office is geared toward client comfort, care and satisfaction. Instructions are provided in writing as to care and recovery from surgery and questions are welcomed.
