Read Reviews for Dr. John Ellwood
Office last renovated circa 1970. Run by completely dysfunctional family. Way too expensive, unprofessional. Doesn't look or seem very clean. Lastly, pretty shoddy work. All about the $.

Dr John is a wonderful dentist and its a great office. I would continue to be a patient there if it wern't for the cost. Their billing system needs some help. You never really know what the final cost on services are.

I went to Dr. Ellwood as a recommendation from my church. My mother has been using his services as well.
I had been using the services of Stony Brook Dental Clinic as I needed extensive work and without dental insurance, it would have been cost prohbitive to use a dentist.
That being said, at my last visit to Stony Brook Dental Clinic, though I weent there twice with pain in my tooth, I was told there was nothing by both the student and the dentist supervising his education.
In fact, I was told that it was probably in my head. To say that I was incredulous at such a statment that I have heard being said to women before "oh little lady, don't worry, I know better, it is in your head!' Needless to say, I promptly sought the services of a "real dentist" and went to see for the first time, Dr. Ellwood.
Not only did he find the problem, a minor cavity, he fixed it promptly and a very reasonable cost. With the cleaning, I was in and out within 40 minutes, if that. Not a wait in the waiting room and nothing but cheerful behavior and staff.
I would highly recommend Dr. Ellwood and shal continue to use his services.
