My original appointment was made with his partner, based on his stellar reputation for dental implants, after which I was passed on to this dentist for dental work needed after implants. I found him to be, not a proactive dentist ensuring positive results, but a dentist who disappeared when he was most needed, leaving his responsibilities to others. He was void of any and all opinions and there was a gross lack of communication (none whatsoever) with the ceramist and myself. Such communication was and is paramount for the overall success of work. He took absolutely no responsibility for mistakes that were continuously made; therefore, creating a very uncomfortable situation that could have and should have been avoided. To mention a few of the "insults", root canal was needed after work, wrong veneers where made (multiple times) which were cemented to teeth then removed. Final veneers were sloppily cemented leaving multiple gaps behind the front teeth and veneers. I now have to spend MORE money elsewhere to correct mistakes made. The money paid was for full mouth restoration totaling $$$$$, in return I expected to work with a knowledgeable professional dentist. Both my periodontist and dentist have urged me to return to him but my lack of faith in his abilities has prevented me from doing so.

Dr. Chu was highly recommended. In fact, he's written a book and he is faculty at the NYU dental school. Let me just say - he is either too good to do dental work, suffers from a form of alzheimer, on drugs, has a serious case of Attention Deficit Disorder, or I am crazy. But I doubt the last one is true because although I am very picky about my dentist, I have found many dentist to be good enough - even if they have some flaws.Dr. Chu is like one of those celeb professionals. He can't sit still very long - he's constantly distracted by "very important" business he has to attend to in his office. An appointment that was supposed to take two hours, took nearly twice that time, and when he "finished", his assistants had to clean up his mess in my unfinished dental treatment. Twice I had to return in agony because of something he neglected. I also did not appreciate that he would insult his female assistants in front of me, while "male bonding" with other males. After each visit, I said to myself he's having bad day, he's famous so he can't be that bad, but I should have trusted my instincts. If it weren't for his very helpful staff, his customer rating would have been the lowest.
