I was a longtime patient of Dr. Lakhkar and recommended her to many friends but I had a lot of work done last year and it became clear that she is not at all transparent about pricing. It could be that her staff needs more training but I was not informed that something would be only 50% covered by insurance and was then sent a bill for a few hundred dollars (on top of thousands I had already paid). It also seemed she was billing the insurance for more work than was actually done. I abhor opaque billing practices in medical professionals and although I ended up paying the bill because I didn't want any credit rating issues, I won't go to Dr. Lakhkar any more on principle. The fact that she didn't budge after I raised the issue with her just made me feel like she doesn't value the loyalty of her patients enough to realize her office had made a mistake on the billing, which is sad.

Dr. Lahkhar has been my dentist since 1996. For my first visit, I scheduled myself for a cleaning and the night before the appointment, my front tooth started to ache. It turned out to be abcessed and that first visit went from a routine cleaning to a root canal, which was traumatic for me but very much mitigated by her caring and calming chairside manner and the professionalism of not only Dr. Lahkhar, but that of her staff. Since that first memorable visit, I finished that root canal, got a crown on that tooth in 1997 (which no one believes is a crown to this day!) and have had a glowing smile since. The staff is amazing and they have all been there a long time. It seems like a nice place to work as well as visit every six months, which is important, because happy people do a better job. Dealing with insurance has never been a problem and I've found the cost to be on par with other practitioners in the area--this is New York, after all. I've lived in four NYC boroughs since 1996 and I've always traveled to midtown to have my dentistry done by Lahkhar. She 's awesome and the only dentist I trust with my mouth.
About Hygienist: Maria is there part-time and, like most of the other staff, has been with Dr. Lahkhar a very long time (15 or 20 years, I think?). She is excellent, very professional and kind and thorough in her work. She always asks if something might be too painful or if I need any numbing and I always end up feeling very clean at the end. I also always leave with a new toothbrush and floss, which I look forward to.

took me on emergency basis. called me personally for follow-up. Very patient with my daughter. Has done crowns and root canals. Helpful with my union insurance.

Dr. Lakhar did a first rate job at a reasonable price, with *superlative* patient care. After my root canal she even called me personally the next day to see how I was feeling. She saved my tooth where another money hungry dental care chain insisted on a crown. Her staff is skilled and friendly and and her facilities are modern. I have never been more impressed with a dentist.

My first visit to Dr. Lakhar was very positive. She and her staff are extremely friendly and calming. My questions were answered thorougly and patiently by both the hygienist and Dr. Lakhkar herself. The front desk was also very helpful with insurance questions and billing.

A friend recommended her years ago. Dr Lakhkar is very good and really nice -- as is everyone else in her office. Her location is right in midtown, but midtown has never been convenient for me in terms of my apts and workplaces around Manhattan. Even so l just keep going back to her and making the trek each time. It's worth it.

She's just wonderful! I went to her 13 years ago because my dentist was out of town; never went to anyone else again. Why? she is professional, wonderful and does great work. And she works with my financial schedule too!

Dr. Lakhkar is awesome. She is always friendly and professional. All of the dental work that I have got done (fillings, etc.) have gone smoothly.
