Read Reviews for Dr. Gregory Nip
Excellent dentist in a modest office in the Outer Sunset. He treated my wife and I for gum disease 18 months ago- we've had no recurrence since then and he did an excellent job of minimizing the pain and educating us without making us feel like idiots.
I know this doctor: 2 years

The staff were friendly and the facilities were fine, with separate rooms for each patient. However, Dr. Nip recommended additional work for issues that previous dentists had told me were not a problem.

This doctor is part of my HMO. I don't have anything negative to say about him. I think choosing a dentist is an individual thing and your comfort with your own dentist depends in large part on your relationship with him/her. This dentist offers the benefit of being a member of the Blue Cross dental HMO system which helps me.

I went in for a consultation and was told that I have gum disease and needed a procedure that was only partially covered by insurance. The procedure was to cost me more than $500. I was skeptical as I had not been experiencing any pain/ discomfort or anything leading me to believe that I may be suffereing from gum disease.
Three days later I went to a different dentist. I was told that my teeth and gums are perfectly healthy and that "deep cleaning" and/ or "gum surgery" is ABSOLUTELY not needed. Either Dr. Nip is incompetent or is preying on patients to make a quick profit.

This dentist's offices never have appointments available and the reception staff is quite rude. I had a chipped tooth recently and they were unable to really help me by giving me a prompt appointment. Instead, they asked me to wait at their offices all day because it was an "emergency" appointment.

Nip did a 5-10-minute exam and told me I had "serious" gum disease and needed several hundreds of dollars worth of work. I consulted two other dentists for their opinions, my former primary care dentist and a periodontist. Both said my gums were fine, there was no disease, and all I needed was a good cleaning. I never returned to Nip. He is completely untrustworthy. He talked more about money than about dental care. Beware!
