Although, he is old school. He is down to earth and professional and very informative. He advises you of procedures, he asks I'f there are any questions and great with my two kids. Barry is awesome. I don't mind the drive for the services I receive! Keep up the good work!

***********Beware of Dr. Poindexter********
I found him on the internet. His office was located on my route home from work & he was on my insurance plan. I went to his office for a Root Canal. I should have left running when I saw how defensive he got when I asked him to use gloves as he went from patient to patient. He attempted to play it off but if I had not insisted he would have used his bare hands. He began the root canal by popping off the crown with a screwdriver, yes screwdriver, the ones found in a toolbox or the trunk of a car, not a sterlized dental tool. After he did what he considered to be completed work & the numbness wore off, the pain set in, it was like something exploded in my jaw bone & ear. It took the new dentist 2 weeks to get the infection under control before he could extract the tooth. It was no longer a decision of mine to save the tooth by having a RC done. Now I need an implant. $$$
The new dentist told me that Dr. Poindexter actually missed my canal with his drill & had drilled a hole on the side of the canal & into my jaw bone. He said this was the work of someone who knew nothing about what they were doing. Dr. Poindexter has to be one of the worst dentist in the world.!!!!!!

Poindexter Dental is Houston's best kept secret. Family centered care. I received excellent care with zero pain. He performed oral surgery, a root canal, and two post and cores in one visit. I returned back to work that same day. He was mindful that I was working not causing me to miss excessive days to complete the necessary work. Dr Poindexter is the only dentist for me. had emergency root canal, the only problem I had was trying to listen intently to a video on the procedure that i was going to have done. I was used to the dentist describing what would take place. I did not listen that well I just wanted it over. The emergency visit and procedure was expensive but worth being pain free. Definitely a luxury, next time i will just try to hang in there until I can see my dentist.

Dr. Poindexter is an awesome dentist. I had two wisdom teeth extracted. He was very careful in giving me sedatives and anethetics to make sure I was comfortable. I received four shots in my gums which were carefully administered and I was comfortable and not in a lot of pain. My pain tolerance is very low so I knew he did a great job. During my procedure he administered nitrous oxide, i.e. laughing gas so I essentially laughed my way through the entire surgery.
So the procedure was not bad at all. Now the post op pain was the clincher. I cried all the way home and/or until I made it to the pharmacy to fill my prescriptions. I was in serious pain after coming home and could not do anything but drug myself to sleep.
The office even called to check on me to make sure I was okay the next morning.
After taking the medications I felt okay, its a day by day process but the procedure overrall was comfortable. Its the post op that really got me.
Overall Dr. P is an awesome dentist. I would go to him again and would recommend him to my friends and family. I am sure his Dad and his family would be very proud of the legacy he is continuing in the community.
Great Job!
