Take this however you want. Although my experience with Dr Carpenter was extremely negative, it didn’t start out that way. He came in like a dream so concerned, and VERY complimentary. I’m 75 and prone to believe medical professionals. We set up the procedure for the following Monday... two extractions and bridges...7 hours, $17,000. I borrowed the money from GreenSkye. I am 5’1”, 90 lbs and I explained that I am chemically sensitive, that there is only one kind of pain medication I can take, that I have an allergy to Morphine based meds, and that many times meds have the opposite effect on me like the morphine which prevents me from falling asleep and does not relieve the pain. First of all he did not order the pain med. He Rx’d Tylenol. When he began to give me the IV sedative I started to have a terrible reaction...severe anxiety, heart pounding. He insisted on proceeding and gave me more med thinking that would help. He even put his arm across me to hold me back in the chair. I started crying and he eventually stopped and let me go. But...he kept $8,500 that I had paid. He blamed me and said I had cost him $9,000 since he had set aside the whole day for me. I told him God sees what he’s doing & he said God is proud of him.

Nice set-up ect but the deal breaker was him making a substitution with my pain meds and not informing me. After I expleaned to him that the only pain med I could tolerate is subutex because I'm on a dose of it which blocks opiates.he phoned in suboxone which I can't tolerate. I was incapaciatated the next day for no apparent reason, growing more confused all day and also getting a migraine from the suboxone. I didn't see the switch because the names are so similar: finially I noticed the change when I picked up the bottle.
The worst part was doctor Carpenters attitude the next day: his excuse was that the pharmicist claimed suboxone was a form of subutex; he didn't explain whay I wasn't informed, but the pharmacist is not responsible for what dr carpenter does.He also refused to prescribe subutex to replace what I'd had to take from the amount my psychiatrist gives me. I need another root canal and I'm hurting. Its a shame because he basicially does good work, however some one I can't trust is not drilling on my teeth.
