I had a lot of dental work done as a child and have ALWAYS been terrified to go to the dentist -- even for checkups. I always got in the chair and clenched my fist as the dentist came near my face. When I moved to San Antonio about 20 years ago, I was so LUCKY to find Dr. Shields. My first visit I realized I would never want to go to another dentist. Dr. Shields is SO patient and gentle -- always stopping to make sure I am okay with the procedure and not in pain. He has the most awesome bedside manner for a dentist. I moved away from San Antonio for a few years and recently moved back. Yesterday I had a tooth chip and was in need of a dentist RIGHT AWAY. I called and Dr. Shields office worked me in. He drilled and bonded some teeth for me -- which with any other dentist would have made me extremely anxious without gas or novacaine. Dr. Shields assured me it would not be painful -- and he was right! It is a great testament to Dr. Shields that he still has many of his staff members from years back -- and they are equally as kind! I HIGHLY recommend anyone to Dr. Shields and you won't be sorry. My husband is going next. Thanks Dr. Shields!

Having worn braces for close to 6 years as a child, I have always feared the dentist's office. After being talked into seeing Dr.. Shields he assessed my situation, put a plan together . Now close to three years later we are finished. I have a smile that I can truly be proud of. Dr. Shields and his staff have always treated me with respect.
Overall I would say that Dr. Shields has helped change the way I feel about myself both at work and at play.
Keep up the good work!
About Hygienist: Renee is a great hygienist. She has a gentle touch even for hard cleanings like mine. She is a real asset to the practice.

I saw dr shields and he is great. Painless and very gentle. Would not hesitate to refer any of my friends and family to his office. He gave me my smile back. Thanks to his whole office.

I had a horrible experience with a dentist near my home so LUCKILY found Dr. Shields when I searched for a dentist near my work. His staff, and himself, have always treated me as if I were a part of their family since my first visit.
Dentistry is an adventure I do not like to partake in when it comes to needles, drills and stretched out mouth muscles. However, each visit has been a visit with no pain and an excellent finished product. (My crowns/bridges stay in and don't even feel the shots! :))
I will continue to have my smile enhanced at this facility because they rock in this profession. You will not find a better place to visit and have your work done. They are tops, not once - but always. (Thank you!)

Very friendly staff and comfortable surroundings. Dr. Shields is very easy going but no-nonsense when its time to work. Virtually pain free dental care. Would recommend this Dr. to all my friends!

Dr. Dhields is gentle and very informative. He has filled teeth for me and replaced fillings that have deteriorated since childhood. One replaced over half of the tooth and he re filled it painlessly. He has 3 or 4 hygienists that are great! They are also very knowledgable and experienced.

Scared of going to the dentist...that was me!
A friend recommended Dr. Shields some years back and I decided to try him out. Dr. Shields and his staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and relaxed. After the first appointment my apprehension had subsided and I have now returned to Dr. Shields on a regular basis. Dr. Shields always explains what he is going to do and makes sure that any pain is minimal. I am now able to go to the dentist without apprehension and nervousness. The staff treats you like a personal friend and they work excellently with the insurance people. I am always happy to recommend Dr. Shields to my friends for his services.
