Read Reviews for Dr. John Sawyer
This place should be called the House of Terror, the place has OLD everything (x-ray machine specially) and they charge top of the line money. If you are looking for a bad experience go to Castro Dental.

Dr. Sawyer did a couple of fillings on me almost a year ago and I was very pleased with the outcome. Everyone in the office was very nice and patient with me. Yes, Dr. Sawyer can be a bit cranky and is not the friendliest dr. but I really don't care to have the nicest dr. I want the best and that he most certainly is. He is very experienced and so is his assistant I had a very pleasant experience. If you want excellent work done at a great price without all the baby talk then I strongly recommend Castro Dental.

I had a negative overall experience with Dr. Sawyer. He did three fillings for me that were all sensetive within a week afterwards. He was very good about checking up on them without charging me but kept saying that the sensetivity would go away soon. Well, a year and a half later I had to get them all redone by a different dentist and two of them had quite a bit of decay underneath.
I am aware that composite fillings are prone to problems and I'm sure he did the best he could. Everyone who works there, including Dr. Sawyer, are friendly and respectful, but I wouldn't go back to his office for anything but a teeth cleaning.

I could not disagree more with the 2 previous reviewers. I had nothing short of a horrible experience in my year of treatment from Dr Sawyer. The only bright spot in my treatment was the work of Dr. Rivas who was very kind and efficient.
1.Dr. Sawyer's inept X-ray technition spent at least an hour trying to get a decent X-ray, all the while jamming things into my mouth with no tact whatsoever.
2. Dr. Sawyer convinced me that he needed to replace my sealants because he "doesn't believe in sealants" despite the fact that he admitted that my sealants were completely intact. I personally think that it was an unnecessary procedure but worse than that was the actual procedure. Dr. Sawyer took an interminable amount of time trying to get the fillings in, and showed no awareness that he was choking me as he ackwardly jammed his fingers and instruments into my mouth. I've been through fillings, braces, scalings, and other procedures and am not squeemish about the dentists chair but this was hands down the most uncomfortable procedure of my life.
3.I finally stopped seeing Dr. Sawyer after I was sick on the day of an Apt I had scheduled and despite the fact that I had called to cancel in advance, I was charged $50 for it.

Dr. Sawyer is a very good dentist. An old-school type of guy, but gets the job done right, and if not done right the first time, will keep having you come back till it is. I have had a couple of crowns put on that didn't quite fit, and Dr. Sawyer did a tremendous job of getting them to. He is a bit gruff, but very professional and does the job right with the utmost professionalism. His staff is very wam, helpful, considerate, highly trained and goodlooking too.
I have been going to Dr. Sawyer now for about 9 years and am very happy. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Sawyer explains treatment options in down to earth terms. He does not rely on bells and whistles or glitz to get the point across. You will not get the hard sell, multiple tooth plan for tens of thousands of dollars.
dr. Sawyer has been wonderful in making sure i get the best care necessary.
i am proud of my new smile, it looks good, it was affordable, and i was treated gently.
