This review is for treatment Dr. Gathecha provided me in 2005. I'm writing this because I still apparently can't get over the experience. Note: I had a crown and post on my front tooth for years (done by another dentist) when I went to Dr. Gathetcha. I went to see her when I suddenly got an infection in that tooth. I was treated by a separate root canal specialist who was in constant contact with Dr. Gathecha about my case as she would take over after my root canal was repaired. The metal post was removed from the crown and Dr. Gathecha proceeded to put some kind of cement filler back in my tooth and sent me on my way. At the time I was thinking, wow they really must have made advances with fillers, knowing how much force the front teeth endure and the fact that she didn't replace the metal post. Two weeks later my tooth fell out of my mouth. Thank god I went to a different dentist who told me 1. I need a post 2. the crown was ill-fitting that's why I got an infection. He took care of my tooth the right way and it's still fine to this day. Dr. Gathecha clearly lacked basic knowledge and I would say common sense, in dealing with my front tooth. I should have questioned her. Silly, I assumed a professional would know better than me

You could do worse, but I cant say I was a happy camper. She is a very nice lady, but the first time I went she had trouble operating the dental chair (not a good sign), and I have since felt that everytime I go back she always is looking for the unnecessary "upsell." Pretty much everytime I would return, I would mysteriously always be in need of more crowns and other costly procedures. I got sick of the constant upsell pressure and cost, so I stopped going.
I went to a new dentist earlier this week, and low and behold, no additional procedures were needed based on the x-rays he took (even though I never actually went through with the various crowns Dr. Gathecha said I needed to have. To me, I would rather go to someone who is looking out for my wallet, and not just theirs!
About Hygienist: Excellent hygenists here... they have always been pleasant and competant.

In 2002, she did an excellent job on replacing my crown. I believe she was then a resident at University of MD Dental School. Still very grateful; wish her all the best in her endeavors

She's a doctor to love and be comfortable with. She did a great job on my implant while she was in university of md. Thanks a million now l can smile with confidence.
